I would agree..no sense in paying the extra charges to ship the thing over the pond again shortly after it's return..I have no problem with the Euro guys being moved up the list. |

Jacques, sounds like a clever decision :-)..but it would be fair enough, if everybody at the list, above me would agree, because they have been waiting much much longer than me, who is involved in the "program" just a few days . if i understood earlier posts well, Skippy is member of the scottish party , wich will meet when the box is arriving scotland...so he should be switched to Machbusterman :-)------------------ michael may www.ag-99.de/spacenet/main/main.html

Seems like an eon ago since I added my name to the list but now I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Bruce, before you ship it to me drop me an email as I've a friend that quite often fly's trans-atlantic into Toronto. There MIGHT be a possibility flying it out of there on the Q.T. Will do Derek - I'm up for saving a few bob!Interestingly enough, I noticed also happen to be next on the list to receive the "NEW" Grab Box. What would be the chances of me receving both Grab Boxes on the same day? Probably about the same as Neil Armstrong signing a copy of the upcoming book on him for me? Best, Bruce |

That really would be something wouldn't it? Be like a kid in a candy store... or sweetie-shop as we Brits say .You know the old saying "Never say never". I guess anything is possible. I'll check with my friend tomorrow and ask him to keep me posted on his flight roster.... finding someone to take it over to the Netherlands could be difficult but hey Kirsten... you know there's a ferry from Zeebrugge to Rosyth now? http://www.superfast.com/Scotland/English/index.asp . If this doesn't work out, let's do what we talked about earlier. Let's all chip in around 10 or so bucks a piece to help Bruce with shipping the box over the pond. It would be the right thing to do for those of us who have already had the privilege of having the box visit our homes... |

I received the box on June 1rst and it's now on it's way to Derek in Scotland. We discussed the logistics of getting the box to Scotland via Toronto and into the hands of his pilot friend to complete the transfer. But the unknown variables were such that the most prudent, albeit somewhat slower, method was to send the box via USPS surface. So, stand-by Europe, here comes da box! Best, Bruce |

The "Grab Box" has landed in Dunfermline!! Bruce, your packaging was fantastic as nothing got bashed/damaged inside. Opening it up today was kinda like Christmas.... sure is a lot of stuff in that box. I'll provide a (rough) list of what I took/added later in the week.My house got flooded back in Feb and we got moved back in 2 weeks ago but last week we found that there was a "nasty smell" coming from the bathroom which has meant that we've had to get contractors back in to take out our bathroom and fix the shoddy work done by the useless b****ards that did the work originally which means that our place is in a bit of a mess at the moment. Due to the above its going to prove impossible to have the "geekfest" as I'd first hoped/planned.... sorry Ian! A fellow list member from Dunfermline is coming along for an hour tomorrow to go through the box with me and to put in his loot and also some loot from "The Tartan Terror". If no-one objects I can ship the box up to Skippy in Aberdeen after the weekend before it goes over to Kirsten in the Netherlands. No worries Derek, Just leave something in it for me. Now what do I have... Don't put multisigned piece in by accident as thats going in the other box to the US Once your ready to send it let me know and I'll give you a work address. And looks as though the price for being bumped up the list is going to be the postage to Delft. One thing is for certain the box WILL be a lot lighter on the way back accross the pond!! |

Dereks phoned my to say he is on the road with the box and I should see it in the next couple of hours.Have started to have a rummage for what to put in. Looks like a couple of patches Mission transcrpt CD A rocket flown cover A Yang lewi cover A 2001 AHOF induction poster unsigned And possible a A3 partchmant signed by Michael Collins but that will depend on what I take out Also a Broman buisness suit glossy signed but photo is croped at the top and signature hasn't the best contrast, If I can find it just that I'm now thinking I've traded it ages ago There will be some lithos again when I find them. I might even put in the BIS magazine as I usually read them once and then put them on the book case! Now what to take? I hope theres some flown stuff!!! I hope there is some stuff we don't see on this side of the pond. Any way Kirsten I should be ready to ship this next Monday / Tuesday, I'll have a word with my companies purchasing department on shipping costs as I might TNT it across. Ian |

I have the box! Spent an hour with Derek before he headed of to Royal Deeside.I haven't had time to have a good look through it yet but I thought you were all joking about the size of it. It just fitted in Dereks car boot. Kirsten you sure you don't want to spend next weekend in Aberdeen? The funny thing is there is nothing of weight in the box as its nearly all paper type items. Lots of covers and patches. Well I'll let you know when Its on the road again. I have signed the guest book and will also sign the lid. All the best Ian |

So that is something to look forward to, I'm going to my stuff in the comming day's to see what more I have to put in. Also here is the updated list (please correct me if I'm wrong) Also I moved up michaelSN99 since he is also in Europe, I think it's better to send the box to him first before it is going to the USA again.... I know this sounds stupid but does any one know a way of getting this monster of a box weighed. Its currently sealed in the livingroom waiting to go, I believe its to heavy to go Royal Mail but possibly light enough for Parcel Force, Though I am seaching for cheap couriers at the momment Hence the weighing question. I could have sworn some one said 60LBs or 25Kg's. Any way what I finally added. about a dozen BIS spaceflight Magazines, A number of Astronaut potrait lithos A Alan Bean customs signed declaration A Bill Pogue Customs signed declaration A dunious Cassini launch pass A rocket flown cover A Mission transcript CD A space shuttle game A AHOF 2001 unsigned poster A couple of Apollo patches I umed and arred about adding the Collins signature but unfortunatly I didn't feel there was enough quality in what was left in the box and I paid a small fortune at the time for it, Sorry. What I took out. A few passes A few car passes A few duplicate stickers A couple of autopen lithos The Russion fruit bar A few fact sheets. A few recovery covers Now not to dissapoint anyone but if your looking for autographs Apart from an Fred Haise SP, A Guy Bluiford ISP and a Dick Covey SP, their is nothing of real note. Yes there sigs or the bottom of some of Harts letters which some people will find interesting. There is a Robert White X15 signed cover but I can't remember now if I took that or not as covers are not realy my thing. There must be about 200 covers, Nothing much to write home here but a new collector would have a good time. Must be about 100 NASA fact/ Nasa news files. Lots of NSAA educational DVDS A signed John Glen T shirt About half a dozzen mission pins A "flown" cable tray. Couple of books Lots of space shot cards More bookmarks than books in a library! If the box wasn't sealed I would make up a full list of what was int here A side issue has anyone done any "clearing" of the box for what could end up being dead weight items. Or is there a policy for this
I hope to get it on the road again once I work out its weight!! Ian |

I have no Idea what it might cost to send the box over to the US again, but if there are people who want to make a donation to send the box back again to the US let me or Micheal now In what part of germany are you living Micheal ?? Sorry Guys but it might be about 6 to 8 weeks before the box moves, I've spoken to kirsten about this and she is OK with it.The best quote for transpot I got was £30 or $50. My company has some one relocating to Holland shortly and have said that I can put it in his container and they will then take care of local shipping. If any one in Europe has objections to this let me know. |
