I feel fortunate to have been around when Apollo 11 landed on the moon. Thanks for all you did for everyone. Rest in Peace, Neil.

It is a sad day indeed. Neil was way too young to leave this earth for the second time. Simply stated; he was a great man, a great explorer, a great American! I feel privileged to have met him (thanks to the ASF). I also plan to make a donation to the ASF in his honor.

Not expecting this. Still remember the thrill of seeing him step on the moon for the first time. You will be missed!.

The thought we've lost Neil Armstrong just says it all without saying any more.

Rest in peace in the loving arms of your God, Mr. Armstrong.

We mourn for a great human. I was happy enough to attend a TV talk celebrating Neil Armstrong's 80th birthday at Salzburg's Hangar-7.

What an awful loss for this pale blue dot. The world is a dimmer place for the passing of a Hero in the true sense, a gentleman in all ways and a Human for all to be proud of.

Sad sad day.

From the statement published by the Armstrong family:
For those who may ask what they can do to honor Neil, we have a simple request. Honor his example of service, accomplishment and modesty, and the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink.
I think that's one of the most touching and appropriate things I've ever read, and it reflects who he was perfectly.

...I have no words for this. It's certainly very shocking. He was one of the most professional and humble people to climb onboard a rocket.
