Borman has had some personal issues, and Mattingly does not like to sign for a fee. Alternatively, we've asked him to come as a speaker but his fee is pretty big. |

I've been to three of the previous Spacefests and had a great time. But the reason I had a great time is because there were astronauts in attendance and signing autographs that I had never met before. If I attend any Spacefest in the future it's going to need to bring in more space shuttle astronauts that have not attended shows before. That is what gets me excited. |

Perhaps an arrangement could be made with Mattingly like the one he did in England. Charge for a separate lecture and he signs one autograph per person who attends. That would offset his fee and fit his preference. You could also have the lecture inside the show and require a show admission ticket along with the lecture ticket. Mattingly would be a big draw even at $150-200 a ticket if an autograph is involved along with the lecture. I know this may not be feasible on top of all the other planning that goes into Spacefest but it's a possible solution to your attendance issues while having the draw of getting all the money back through lecture and attendance ticket sales. Lastly while I prefer getting autographs I also would just love to meet Collins, Mattingly, Borman or Anders. If these astronauts are against signing see if they're agreeable to attending the show and simply posing for photos for a fee. I'd pay $50 for a photo with any of those guys. I don't want to change the free photo with an autograph policy that occurs now, but that is a way to maybe get different astronauts to attend. |

Agreed. We've approached Mattingly that way as well. Even Kittinger and Story. They both declined, even though we wanted Joe and Story to sell books and talk only, they didn't like the idea of being associated with an autograph show. It's tough, believe me. |

The list of astronauts announced (to date) as attending can be found here (and on Sightings). Stafford is currently not among those listed. |

Any word on the golf? Or too early? I'd love to get out and hit a few balls. By the way, which astronaut is the best golfer? |

I see that Buzz Aldrin has been removed from the site. Does this mean he's definitely not attending? |

We're sorry to say that Buzz Aldrin informed us recently that he will not be doing any more autograph shows, including the upcoming Spacefest, so we removed him from our site. We are trying to arrange a mail-in signing in the next few months. |

Dave Scott, Gene Cernan, and Jim McDivitt have not confirmed yet, but all three have said they are planning to attend, but want to wait until closer to the show date to verify their schedules before confirming. |

It would be really nice if Cernan's documentary "The Last Man on the Moon" would be released and available for purchase. I would love a copy of that signed by him.

Do the astronauts start signing on Thursday or is it better to just wait til Friday to go? |

The astronauts will not be signing on Thursday, but will start on Friday. We are still finalizing the schedules, so there may be a few things added on Thursday, but they will not be signings. |

It's a little early but I will be accepting mail orders again for folks who can not make the event. I have done this the past several years with Kim, Sally and Rob's recommendation and approval. Please email me at: stevegruber34@yahoo.com with your requests and we can discuss the details. The pricing is still 2-3 months away but you can look at past years guests and prices to start getting a jumping off point. I do charge a fee for my service and have many happy customers from this site over the years. Thanks.

And having done this route with Steve 4 years ago, I can vouch for his integrity. |

We probably won't have a mail-in signing for Scott that soon after Spacefest, but Steve Gruber (SteveG) can help you get some things signed at Spacefest, per his above post. |

Was wondering if the astronauts have the ability to accept debit cards? I'm going to be spending quite a bit of money and would prefer not to carry cash around. |

The two Spacefests I have been to, the astronauts have a credit card machine at each of their tables. I don't think it will be a problem. Just be sure and notify your credit card company. They suspended my card temporarily the first time for multiple "suspicious" purchases. It was cleared up quickly with just a phone call but it might save you time at Spacefest. |

I have always used credit cards at SpaceFest without any problems. I'd rather use a credit card instead of carrying all that cash. Although I have never had a problem with the credit card company, not a bad idea to let them know if you are from outside the U.S. They will note it in your account. |

All of the astronauts will have credit card machines (either ours or theirs), that should all accept debit cards. However, depending on the machine, it may charge the debit card as a credit card. |

Is there a way to see exactly what days all the guests will be signing autographs? I plan on attending Friday and Saturday and wanted to find out so I can alter my plans if someone is only attending Saturday or Sunday. |

When we find out that a signer will not be attending all days, we will post it in the first paragraph of their bio, which will then show up on both the summary pages and the individual's bio page.We have heard exceptions from only two astronauts so far, Bruce McCandless (Friday only) and Eileen Collins (Friday and Saturday). We don't know of any who will be Sunday only, and even though some signers will still be around on Sunday, you should not rely on seeing them that day. If there is someone you definitely need, plan on being there Friday and Saturday. |
