Just seen a post on the SM forum that the new Autographica site is now up and running and the guests will be added tomorrow. |

Just a 'heads up'. I have checked with the Autographica site and as mentioned earlier Col. Worden's fee will be £50.00. Also there are 7 Military guests too! Thought I would share those facts so far. |

What could be encoraging news is they have a few repeat military guests from the last show and they have re-booked Dudley Sutton who cancelled last time. Hopefully bodes well that Scott Carpenter and Dave Scott may reschedule their appearances from last time. |

Well if David Scott does agree to appear I hope there isn't all the negativity like the last time, right before he decided he wasn't going to attend! |

I don't remember too much negativity last time round. I know at the time I said I was surprised they got him back for a third show running although the announcement wasn't a bad thing. My memory is though that the majority at the time were very pleased with the announcement. |

My memory of events is similar to Paul's: I seem to recall the only rumblings being about signing fees...Fingers crossed for a few more astronauts to share this historic anniversary with! |

Someone has clearly been listening in to this thread, the Autographica website had Dave Scott down as attending now as well. |

I have a couple of questions regarding this year's show that I'm hoping some of you can answer:What will Dave Scott's signing fee be at the event and will he do personalizations/mission inscriptions? Will both Scott and Worden provide photos to be signed at the event (for example I want Scott to sign a photo of him on the moon for me and I don't know whether I have to provide it or not)? Will Worden & Scott attend on both the 13th and 14th? (Sorry for the amateurish questions but I've never been before!) Also, what are the times the signings start and end on each day and can you get a photo with the astronauts as you are lining up for autographs, or will that come at another part of the day? This is all because I am only planning to go on one of the days (getting an early flight to Birmingham and a late flight back to Ireland in the same evening.) Thanks to all for the help in advance. |

His fee at his last two Autographica appearances have been £95, for that he happily seems to personalise and add a mission inscription. On my Apollo 15 picture he added Apollo 15 CDR and on my Apollo 9 Picture he simply added Apollo 9. I saw him do inscriptions for people at the first show but he seemed less keen on that, especially when it was multiple items for the same person.Generally all guests have photos available for signing, from memory Dave had a very good selection last time. All I would say though is if there is a particular image you want signing then best to buy in advance to be sure. I didn't with Charlie Duke last time and had to get another image signed (not bad, just not entirely what I wanted). The pictures for signing are included in the price of the autograph. There are some dealers selling unsigned photos at the event but not many. Appearance days aren't usually announced till closer to the event but generally astronauts who are coming from the US sign all weekend. The event opens at 9am on the Saturday and I think 10 on the Sunday. I believe, signings usually start fairly soon after that (an hour after opening at the latest). Benefit of the event taking place in a hotel is that the guests are staying onsite so limited transport times are needed. Photos are hard to say, the organisers tend to have professional photo shoots with certain guests for a fee but not all guests agree to do this. At his last two events Dave Scott has not participated in the official photo shoots but has agreed to pictures at his desk. I got a nice one with him last year which he stood up for. Sometimes its a good idea to wait till their queue has gone down a bit as otherwise you may have one with them sat down and you leaning over the table, can look a bit awkward. I'm not sure if Al Worden did a photo shoot last time or if he did pictures over the table. |

Paul, thanks so much for your response!Well here is a link to an example of the photo I want Dave Scott to sign - it's one of the most common images of him on the moon, so I presume he'll have it, has he had this image with him before? If they start signing about an hour after opening, then when do they stop signing usually do you know? |

I have that exact same image signed by him hanging in my lounge! He's certainly had plenty of copies on the last two visits over here so I'd be very surprised if he didn't have it again, like you say it's a classic image.I don't think there's any hard and fast rules on what times they start and stop signing each day. There is a black tie dinner on the Saturday night so I guess some may leave a bit earlier to get into their finery for that. All I would say on that is I've never been to an Autographica yet with an early entry ticket and missed anyone that I'd wanted to see. One thing while I think about it though, if you do decide to go for one of the professionally taken pictures, they do seem to take a long time to get back from being developed. You can arrange for them to be sent on if you need to leave before they come back but it can take a while for them to be posted out, if you are able to wait for them then I'd say that is generally better. Autographica tends to be a very relaxed event because they don't sell endless tickets. This tends to mean the queues inside are shorter and because a lot of punters go to meet the TV and film guests, and at the risk of being contraversial, the higher signing fees also means there isn't usually as much competition to see the astronauts. I was shocked at how short Jim Lovells queue was last year for example Best advice is get there as early as possible and leave your departure as late as possible you shouldn't miss out. |

I have contacted Dave from Autographica and asked him if there were any other astronauts scheduled to be coming other than Worden and Scott. He very kindly responded and said that they now have one more confirmed and two others awaiting confirmation. He also said to keep an eye on the website as these things will be finalised closer to the event. Who do you think the three could be? Maybe Scott Carpenter who cancelled late last time? I personally hope another moonwalker is in there - any chance of Duke, Mitchell,Bean or Cernan attending? Maybe something for the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11? Feel free to speculate as I'm curious! |

Dave did mention on the Showmasters forum that there would be a new guest announced on Friday just gone but nothing was said in the end. Maybe he is waiting till all three are confirmed to do a bumper announcement.Wouldn't surprise me if Scott Carpenter is one of the three. Of the guests who cancelled last time two have already been announced for this show. |

I have emailed Dave to ask him if there are any more astronauts/cosmonauts coming to the show. I feel that there would be a demand for the Russians if they could get them.It would be nice to see a name that we have not seen before from the Apollo era, but I suppose I can only hope. |

Agreed Paul. I would love to be surprised and I'm hoping there is going to be a shock in there.I personally would prefer to see astronauts rather than cosmonauts, although I wouldn't complain at meeting a cosmonaut or two! |

Well I'll be there Friday / Saturday / Sunday as will Paul Williams: no doubt the usual crew will be, too... I've yet to meet up with them socially, however (despite trading at 6 shows!) I suspect they tend to hang around together! |

I am not sure of the relationship between Scott and Worden. I went to Worden's talk at a previous show and he gave the impression that he was how can I put it? ...disappointed at the pictures of his deep space spacewalk and blamed Scott. He did say he had always had the last word when talking to his commander. This surprised me a bit until he qualified what he meant. The last words were "Yes Sir". I wonder if they would do a talk together? |

A joint talk (or even photo) would be great but I don't think Dave Scott has done anything other than sign at previous Autographicas.Someone raised this before about them not getting on but then someone else mentioned seeing them eating breakfast together at another event and they seemed to be getting on fine. On a vaguely related topic, I am thinking of getting a WSS shot of Dave Scott signed this time, generally he's put the mission inscription specific to the photo on without a problem but I wondered if anyone's asked him to put all three missions on a picture and if he's been OK to do it? Also just seen Scott Carpenter has been announced! |

I myself am going to get Dave Scott to sign a vintage NASA litho of his military salute on the moon - I am going to be cheeky and ask him to write a particular quote and I am going to try to get him to list his three missions. Since I am only getting the one autograph from him, I am hopeful he will do it for me! quote: Also just seen Scott Carpenter has been announced!
Yes, just saw that too, that is very good news - now I just can't wait! Am now looking forward to (hopefully) two other big announcements! |

I will also be there on the Saturday - my Dad and I are making the trip over from Ireland so I'll see you all there! (I'll be the 16 year old dragging his 54 year old Dad around the room. )By the way, I'm starting to notice a little trend emerging here - when we started talking about Dave Scott he was announced as a guest shortly after, and the same can be said now about Scott Carpenter. I think it's time we all started talking about Armstrong and Anders for a while! |

No we should be so lucky. Any one of four will do, if more than one great. An Apollo 12 and Apollo 15 get together not impossible. Maybe also Ed Mitchell; he said he would come back after he canceled last year. |
