I can only give my support to the thanks being extended to Ken in organising this his latest event. Last night was the first I have been able to attend and I was rewarded by Richard Gordon on top form. It slowly dawns on you, as you sit there that the individual you have watched in all those films and dvds, is standing right in front of you. The lasting image I have always had of Dick Gordon is him riding cowboy on the Gemini/Agena pair, and after last night it's just been reinforced. A great evening all round.I heartily encourage everyone to support all Ken's future events. It was well worth the 450 mile round trip to attend. Rick, nice meeting you! |

Looking at Rick’s photographs reminds me that what Ken does here is to provide opportunities. Through these events school children/students get a chance to see/hear and quiz an Apollo astronaut about something that to them is now history but as yet unequalled. I couldn’t have dreamed of this as a kid (well I did dream of it but it never happened until much later). The general public from far and wide and even from foreign countries including Scotland (sorry Aileen and the gang) and Eastern Europe get an opportunity to meet their childhood hero/celebrity/legend etc. We get an opportunity to hear tidbits/anecdotes/humorous asides from the public and private perspective of spaceflight. My wife commented that Dick had the audience transfixed. The story of the voyages to the moon from the mouths of the people that went there still has that effect today. You could have heard a pin drop. These events give the astronauts the opportunity to tell us about the historic/hazardous but exciting and fun times that they had and for them to know that even now some 42 years later it is still appreciated. So when opportunity knocks again don’t ask who is there just come on in and support Ken, Aileen, Autographica et al and keep the dream alive. |

What a fabulous evening on Thursday for the dinner with Dick Gordon. A big thank you to Ken.I had the privilege of hosting a private dinner party at my home, on Saturday evening, with Dick Gordon, my wife and family, Ken, Mike and Jenny. Dick was fully at ease and recounted many tales and experiences of his truly amazing life. Many photos were taken of the evening with Dick particularly enjoying posing for photos with the girls! He was a perfect gentleman and guest all evening and I am sure he enjoyed our English hospitality and will spread the word to his former colleagues who may visit Ken's future presentations. |

Just the best two days! Many thanks Ken: the Pauls, Howard and I had a fabulous time! The dinner was particularly good fun and I'm already working on Linda to give me a two day pass in the Autumn! Thanks also to the many people who kindly patronised 'The Space Station': sorry I'd forgotten the file of CoAs: I'll get them out on Monday! |

After a hectic weekend I am only just getting around to say a big thank you to Ken for another great presentation. At the age of 82 Dick Gordon is amazing. It is so brilliant to still be able to see these legends live and they never fail to meet our expectations. In particular the questions part was so good and his lively personality really shone through. Thanks to everyone who helped Ken put this lecture on and I can't wait for the next one. |

To add to the notes of appreciation - Ken pulled off another very successful visit. Well done Ken. For those who missed Dick Gordon in England - I have some of it in on my blog. Other astronauts during their visit to Yorkshire courtesy of Ken Willoughby. |

Thanks Chris. Alas, the editor heavily chopped it around so it was not such a good read in my opinion and he included only 1 of the 4 images I'd sent. It was a good picture of Ken but not so flattering for Dick. |
