Sent for my ticket on Friday. It's very important that we all support these visits whenever we can.It will be nice to see Dick again and who knows who Ken will be lining up for the future. |

David, as a matter of interest are you going as trader, member of the audience or both? |

I've paid the full whack to attend the dinner and talk. The Pauls (and Howard!) and I are having a lads' two days out! (Linda can't get time off work!) Ken has asked me to bring along some sales items for Friday night, so I'll have a stall with lots of signed books, acrylics and framed flown stuff. |

David, if you've a few hours free during the day whilst you're up here I can heartily recommend visiting the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington. |

Well, contrary to my earlier post it looks like I am going to be making the lecture evening at least.Downside will be the 4hr+ drive up, evening lecture and then the 4hr+ drive back down South. Worth it though! I look forward to meeting some of the members from cS. Q. Do we all salute each other like they do in Galaxy Quest? (Well that's what my wife asked!! I thought it was funny.) |

Unfortunately I won't be able to attend. SWMBO has arranged her retirement 'do' for the same evening. Since I wish to see the dawning of another day...! |

Received our three tickets today. Ken sent them by return. I have met Dick Gordon twice before but have never heard him give a talk so really looking forward to it.Ken works hard to put these events on and we are very grateful to him and his helpers, so the least we can do is to make the journey (I'm taking a half day holiday) to support the lecture but unfortunately can't make the dinner. Look forward to meeting some of you there. |

We've often discussed having some sort of ID so those of us who don't recognise each other by sight. Maybe it would be worth doing at some point.Either that or meet under the lobby clock at 7 wearing a carnation... |

Yes these events are great and I really appreciate them. Just one consideration for any future event though. It would perhaps mean even more could attend the dinner and talk if it were practical to hold the events on a Friday and Saturday evening? |

I've mentioned this to Ken: I'm sure he has very compelling reasons, but it does make things difficult: not the least, I'll be without my right-hand man, Linda Still: I'll rope in a Paul or two to help set up, with any luck! |

Some of you guys have led very sheltered lives. Apart from a young lady armed with a hockey stick, an outraged SWMBO is the deadliest weapon known to Man. |

Ken accepts people's preferences for his events but the timing is dependent upon a number of factors including the availability of the hotel (which is a very popular wedding venue so is booked many months in advance making Saturdays virtually impossible), the availability of the school buildings and of course the availability of the astronaut guest; a Friday/Saturday event is not as straight-forward as it might at first appear. And a further quote from Ken is as follows... There is a 'biggy' (you will not want to miss this!) lined up for later this year and the ticket cost (hopefully £30) will be determined by the success of Gordon's visit and priority given to people who attend this. There you have it ladies and gentlemen. I think it in everybody's interest to make the effort to support Ken and attend the Gordon event. Then all being well we (including myself) will be in for a very pleasant surprise in October. |

Fair enough Rick. Don't get me wrong, I'm going as I have to everyone of Ken's events. My only concern was for those who perhaps have travel issues where the days were a problem. |

I fully understand Chris. Thursday/Friday is not ideal for me either. It means I have to take a days vacation time from work but it is worth it. And at the risk of repeating myself, the opportunities will not last for much longer.I did not go to Ken's Aldrin event a couple of years ago, and I passed up meeting Armstrong in Ireland a few years back too; I have kicked myself too many times to remember for not having attended both. |

I booked my ticket online a couple of nights ago. I missed the talk last year, so I'm looking forward to this.Is there any truth to the rumour that the mystery guest in October is Professor Bernard Quatermass, giving a talk on "Where NASA went wrong?"

In that case, Rick, I might make the trek "up norf". Sadly there's a conflicting event at Farnborough, hosted by the Vulcan to the Sky team and with a talk by Martin Withers, the lead pilot of the Black Buck Falklands operation. |

No worries Brammers. We would not want you to spill your jellied eels or lose any of those pearly buttons from your glittery suit my old cockney sparrow! In case you do make the trek "up norf," you had better have your rabies jabs what with all those whippets roaming loose. You might need a translator, too. |

David, do you know if you or any of your customers/friends coming to Glasgow for the Al Worden weekend in May? If anyone was at the Charlie Duke dinner evening, I have added in addition a sparkling wine reception (free wine on arrival) and a dance. It is to help us celebrate the 40th anniversary of Al's mission. Would love to see lots of you there. |

Definitely need to get behind this event! Are we talking dinner event tickets still remain or just tickets for the lecture the following night? |

There are a good number of tickets remaining for the evening lecture but just a handful left for the dinner.I think, the "Mr X" Ken is lining up for October will be on a smaller scale with regards tickets and it is evident from what Ken has told me, priority will be given to those who support him in the Dick Gordon event; unless we are careful there will be a lot of very disappointed people come October. |

I understand Ken's attitude about October, but it does smack a little of bribery. There are those who would love to attend the Gordon event but whose family circumstances make it impossible. It seems rather unfair on them. |

I would hope that for those of you who cannot attend but have been to other events a concession may be made? |

If demand for tickets in October outstrips availability (and I must stress Ken has NOT told me who he has lined for October but the impression I am getting is it will...) then inevitably discretion will play a part in allocation.Under those circumstances first come first served would not be a fair allocation of a limited resource either. Ken is not soft; I am sure he will take in to consideration all those who have supported his events over the years. But if 400 people who have supported some of his events in the past apply for 300 tickets, and there are 300 people who have supported EVERY event he has put on previously... then disappointment is inevitable. |
