Hopefully there will be a reprise of the X-15 element — last year's was just superb! Would love to hear Joe Engle et al again. |

Outstanding news. I was worried there would be no 2018 edition. |

The Galactic Package includes the Astronauts Lunch, according to the tickets page. Is this correct? Or it should be the Speaker Lunch instead? |

We had a minor glitch with the online ordering of 4-Day passes ("Admit- All 4 Days") earlier today, but that has now been fixed. If you were trying to order a 4-Day pass, but couldn't, please try again. |

If you need something signed and cannot make the event I will be handling any orders for people who cannot make it. I have done this for most of the past events and glad to help out anyone that I can. I have already confirmed this with Sally and Al. Please check past years' Spacefest reports to see the positive reviews that I have received for my services. |

Time for my annual Steve Gruber recommendation. Steve has been a great help to enthusiasts, and to us at Spacefest since nearly day one. His organizational skills are impeccable — and to see him in action is a site to behold. As honest as the day is long, you can trust you item(s) to Steve. I'll find him a place to store items during the day that's safe and non accessible to the public and he and I keep an eye on the items as well. Thanks for your help to the community and us at Spacefest Steve! |

As with Steve G, I'll be attending Spacefest IX and could handle getting a few items signed for those unable to attend. I've helped a few other cS folks at ASF shows (references available), and hope to get signatures from Anna Fisher, Jonathan Ward and Mike Leinbach, and Dave Scott. |

I will have my artwork on display at Spacefest IX alongside the work of two dozen notable space artists. This will be my third consecutive year participating in the Spacefest art show. It is always a double treat for me to visit with the astronauts and to hang out with a great group of talented space artists. If you are a cS member, please come up and introduce yourself. I look forward to meeting you in person and seeing those I know, again. — Dave Ginsberg |

I was about to get some things in the mail to Steve Gruber for Jim McDivitt to sign, but unless I am missing something he is no longer listed as signing autographs. Has anyone heard anything about this? |

I don't recall McDivitt being listed as attending Spacefest this year. He does appear on the Spacefest website from his participation in previous years. |

Indeed, McDivitt is not attending this year. We had his picture on the web page early on as a hopeful, but not confirmed, because he had not committed yet. Once he definitely told us he would not be there, we removed his picture. |

Another cS member and I must have somehow reached a page from a past Spacefest, because he and I were writing each other about McDivitt's fees just a few weeks ago. I hope he can attend a future one! |

Since McDivitt can't make it to Spacefest this year, we will try to set up a mail-in signing with him sometime this winter, after he comes back to Tucson. |

To anyone who sent me items to be signed at Spacefest, everything was signed this morning. All (but one order) have been packed up to go out on Monday. However, if you sent a postage paid return envelope for the USPS, I was able to get your item(s) out with the last mail collection today when I got back to the Phoenix area. Thanks to everyone that I was able to help out. And thanks to Sally, Rob and Al. |

A big thanks to Sally, Kelsey, Randy, Al, Nick and everyone who made Spacefest 9 possible — it was a real blast of a few days!A few personal highlights: - Acquiring the perfect piece of kit from spacesuit replica artist Ryan Nagata that will play a neat role at an event to be announced later this week.
- Adding an 8.6 gram slice of the moon to the collectSPACE collection, courtesy of Top Meteorite. The feldspathic breccia displays very nicely...
- ...though it paled in comparison to the 1,200 gram lunar sample that Top Meteorite was very kind to loan me for my talk on missing moon rocks. Speaking of which, I used the talk to announce a new challenge, which will become public later this month. Stay tuned for details.
- Actually finding a missing moon rock during my talk, by way of an audience member whose trip to a kingdom turned up the elusive sample. Details to be announced about that find soon.
- Emceeing a lively and informative discussion about the upcoming Universal Studios' film "First Man" with panelists including screenwriter Josh Singer, historian James Hansen (patched in by phone), Apollo 15 astronaut and technical consultant Al Worden, Neil Armstrong's sons Rick and Mark, artist Chris Calle, Ryan Nagata and author Rick Houston. Look for an article about the panel coming to collectSPACE this week.
And, as always, catching up with so many collectSPACE readers and friends. The best part of Spacefest are the people who attend. I am grateful for the those I was able to reunite with and regret not having more time to interact with those I know I missed. |

As always Spacefest IX was a lot of fun. While it's always fun to get things signed by the astronauts, the real charm of the event is that you cram a bunch of space geeks together for 3ish days in one relatively isolated resort, with space artists, dealers, scientists and astronauts, and just let them have fun. My favorite aspect of it is the socializing with friends from around the world, that are connected by at least one common interest. Here are a couple pics of a serious SpaceX fan in the Main Hall.

John Gould wrote up his experience attending the panels at Spacefest. This piece will be the first in a series of articles inspired by the enormous amount of information and experiences gained at Spacefest. I'll begin by giving an overview of the panels and lectures I chose to attend. |

John Gould has filed his second essay about his experiences at Spacefest. My last article about Spacefest focused on the panels and lectures. Some of you are probably wondering why I purposely swerved past another aspect of what makes Spacefest truly unique — the personal connections you make with your heroes, and time spent enjoying those moments with friends. Here is the reason why! An entire piece dedicated to just that. It is one of my most in-depth Living Space writings yet. |
