Bumping up my message from January about accepting mail orders for autographs for those who cannot be at Spacefest. I wont start accepting items for another 4-5 weeks but if you would like to be put on my mailing list please email me directly.

Hate to be the reminder of bad news, but I've been asked to remind that Gen. Engle will not be signing mail in items.

Depends on the astronaut and their policy. If they're charging per word, I'm sure they'll be happy to add what you wish.

Correct, but that wouldn't affect Steve G's efforts, since he's taking the items with him to Spacefest to get signed.

The astronaut in question is Joe Engle. The inscription I have in mind is four brief lines totaling roughly 12 words total.

Then again, no one is signing mailed-in items because no one is doing a signing at Novaspace as part of Spacefest, and, to my knowledge, Novaspace doesn't take mailed-in items for Spacefest signers.

Does sending an item to a friend to bring with him to Spacefest count as "mailed in"?

Nope. The Engles are aware of Steve and his efforts and do not wish to sign those either.

The General is not motivated by money.

So those of us who can't attend for financial reasons are out of luck? I know from personal correspondence he doesn't sign through the mail because he doesn't like people profiting from his autograph. At his fees their will be no profiting.

I don't understand this guy.

On another note if anyone needs an Engle litho, I've got one I'd like to get my money back on.

It is not necessary to understand him. It is his desire to sign autographs only for those he meets in person at Spacefest.

His policy now being known, let's move on to discussion of the other aspects of Spacefest, as merited.

Never said it was necessary. He is entitled to any signing policy he wishes.

Is there an auction at Spacefest? I thought I read somewhere about a charity auction but am having trouble finding the information.

I don't know about Spacefest, but generally there is a charity auction associated with the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation (ASF) meeting in early November in Florida.

Last year there was an auction in support of Kim. Great idea. However, if another auction is planned, I hope it is better planned than last year.

I believe they are auctioning off some items during the banquet on Saturday night. Check the Spacefest page on Facebook. Nick Howes has posted about a few items that will be auctioned, and they are hoping for more to be donated.

I saw on the Spacefest site that Gen Stafford has canceled. A real bummer. I hope everything is ok.

Is it just me, or does anyone else have a problem with the Spacefest website? I can't scroll down. I can get each tab, but never can page it down.

I have a similar problem with Internet Explorer but there is a workaround: clicking Ctrl + F5 usually helps to reload the pages in their complete form.

Could you organize something special for them? A dinner, maybe, with a reasonable entrance fee for the audience?

Still accepting mail order (aside from Mr. Engle) for people who aren't fortunate enough to be able to attend the event.

All items and full payment are due by June 5th...no exceptions. Email me with any questions. Thanks!

Now it looks like Alan Bean has cancelled too. He and Stafford are still shown on the guests page, but if you read the "fine print" they are shown as cancelled.
Alan Bean has had to cancel for Spacefest VII for personal reasons.

I've got an X-15 print I'm bringing for Joe Engle's signature, and would also like to get it signed by author Michelle Evans and the X-15 support crew attending this Spacefest (Vince Capasso, Wayne Ottinger, Harry Shapiro, and Charlie Baker). I know Engle and Evans have a scheduled time for book signing, but is there an authorized way to get the signatures of the support crew?

(Maybe "authorized" isn't the right word - but you know what I mean. I don't want to feel like I'm sneaking around.)

Both Glynn Lunney and Sy Liebergot are listed as cancelled too.
Glynn Lunney has had to cancel his Spacefest VIII appearance for personal reasons.

Sy Liebergot has had to cancel for Spacefest VIII.

In light of astronaut deaths over the past couple years, Aldrin's "I hate shows" stance, and the list of cancellations for this year's show, I hope the event remains profitable for management and guests.

With that said, if one has never gone or is on the fence about going, don't pass up your chance.

Okay gang, I can finally let the cat out of the bag... there will be two of the Mercury 13 gals attending Spacefest: Gene Nora Jesson and Sarah Ratley. One day only, they arrive Friday, June 9 and depart June 10. Gene Nora is bringing her books and we'll host a book signing at 4:30PM on Friday.

They want to visit with Eileen Collins and Rhea Seddon, who look up to them.

Sarah of course, will be with her and they'll happily sign anything else you want. No fee but it would be nice to help her by buying a book. Besides they're a great read, here's a link to her Amazon page.
