The Project Apollo Archive lists the date for the Apollo 13 crew photo in civil clothes as April 10, 1970 (photo ID 70-HC-541). I believe this can't be right as the crew were in routine pre-mission quarantine that day?

Also they're wearing the exact clothes they wore during the April 21, 1970 post-flight press conference.

Slightly digressing, I am sure there was some, but I cannot seem to find any images of complete backup crews after Apollo 1 including in this case the Apollo 13 backup crew — John Young, Jack Swigert and Charlie Duke.

If J.L or Ed Hengveld don't have copies of the back up crew images I'd be surprised.

Prepare to be surprised, because I have never seen a group photo of the Apollo 13 backup crew.

Does "moving images" count, because there is some 16mm footage of Young, Swigert and Duke training, although I have not seen it.

Of course there are numerous training photos of the Apollo 13 backups, but the question was if a formal or informal group photo exists.

Looks like it was taken in the Crew Quarters Conference Room at KSC.

I can't speak to other crews, but there are complete crew photos of the Apollo 14 backup crew of Cernan, Evans, and Engle. In fact, I have one framed along with signatures of the three and a vintage "beep beep" backup crew patch.

In addition to Apollo 14, after another quick search online, I also found images of the backup crews for Apollo 8 and Apollo 17 as well.

And there is a suited Apollo 16 backup crew: Haise, Roosa and Mitchell.

That is what confused me at first, but it was taken on the day of the post-flight press conference in Houston. April 21, 1970.

All times are CT (US)
