Launch Complex 36 acrylicOwn a piece of US space history! Each of these stunning acrylics contains a generous piece of the distinctive green protective fiberglass shutters from the 209-foot-tall Mobile Launch Towers used at Pad A and Pad B of Cape Canaveral's Launch Complex 36. These authentic shutter segments played a role in the successful launch of 146 Atlas rockets from 1962 to 2004, and were recovered following the 2007 demolition of the towers. The reverse notes three of the legacy probes launched from LC-36: - Surveyors 1-7 / 1966-1968 / First US lunar soft landings
- Pioneer 10 / March 3, 1972 / First probe to leave the Solar System
- Mariner 10 / November 3, 1973 / First combined Venus-Mercury flyby
Measuring 6" x 2 3/4" x 1", these beautiful collector's items are individually numbered in a limited-edition issue of just 150 pieces, with the number (x/150) laser-engraved on the reverse. Every effort will be made to fulfill requests for specific numbers between 10 and 150, but hurry, these are going quickly. These historic LC-36 acrylics are available exclusively through Retro Space Images, and will make the perfect holiday gift for that space or history enthusiast on your list. Each comes with a signed, numbered certificate guaranteeing its authenticity. Each fiberglass segment is unique and will vary slightly from the sample shown. |

With regards to the acrylic postage rates, there is a temporary glitch on the website. At some point soon, the actual rate will become effective. In the meantime, consider this to be an "introductory discount" So, get your reduced postage rates while they are still in effect! |

Just ordered mine also. I wouldn't call it a glitch in the system... I'd call it a holiday discount.

Me too! Saw that yesterday, but didn't see the price was so good. Bought myself a Christmas gift. I like this kind of shopping better, I know that I'm getting something I like. Socks and underwear are good, but just not the same. |

Just wanted everyone to know that all of the second wave of acrylic orders (thru 12/11) are in the mail. Thanks to all who have order, and also for the great comments. Future acrylic products are in the works. I would also be interested in hearing from anyone who has some ideas for potential projects. Feel free to e-mail me at Roverpick@aol.com. Thanks. |

I am glad you pointed this out to me. After seeing a few of the posts put up I got one. It was better than I expected. Even if you are not a big collector of this I say jump on it. It is a piece of history and I can say I have a piece of it. My wife even likes it and she is not into space like I am. |

A limited number of LC-36 acrylics are still available. When they are gone, that is it. Pad 14 will be the next acrylic, and material has already been secured. We are trying to determine how many we will be able to produce. If we are limited to only 100, those who have bought the LC-36 acrylic will be given first opportunity on the Pad 14 acrylics. |

A Pad 14 acrylic is great news indeed! If it's anywhere near as nice as the LC-36 acrylic, there will be a lot of happy collectors out there. |

The plan in place right now is to produce a series of acrylics that maintain the same general appearance. The Pad 14 acrylic will utilize conduit that contains connectors, wires, etc. from a control box that came from the base of the pad. |

Hmmm. David, your two acrylics were mailed on December 19. Let's give it a bit more time before we go into panic mode. In the future, if anyone thinks there is a delivery issue, please e-mail me directly at roverpick@aol.com. I also want to advise all who have orders pending that they are being processed and hopefully mailed today. The final shipment of LC-36 acrylics just arrived a few days ago and it's has taken some time to get things organized again after the holidays. Thanks all for your patience. |

Nice to hear you're keeping the same general appearance of the LC-36 acrylic! The tall design makes it stand out well among most other acrylics (most of which tend to be rather short). |

I guess that would depend on what can be included in an acrylic and what size limitations there are - if any. In other words, I don't know anything about how acrylics are produced! What about a special one with all the finalist design for the end-of-shuttle patch contest? Or with the ones submitted on collectSPACE? They're all pretty neat. |
