Has anyone ever come across any logo or emblem that could be considered a Dyna-Soar program patch? |

This replica Dyna Soar patch (made by spacepatches.nl and lucreation.net) reproduces the only contemporary patch design produced for the X-20 program. The art is based on a single photograph showing the patch, which showed up in an eBay lot, a number of years ago. Some time later, a button from the 60's also turned up on eBay, displaying a very similar design. These two pictures provided enough detail to produce an authentic reproduction of the unique patch. As the original will be impossible to obtain, we hope collectors will enjoy the next best thing. |

Jacques, your replica patch looks good. It has that plain 1960 look that you got at the time with a lot of Air Force patches.I love these replica patches that collectSPACE members are having made up, they all have a quality that only comes from a collector of patches and show an eye for detail that only a collector would have. So I would like to say thanks to all the members that are or have made patches up. Thanks, keep it up as we love them all. |

I am looking forward to receive mine! - It starts a nice collection together with the MOL patch from the Cape museum and Tim Gagnon´s MOL Commemorative Patch. Would be great, if I could add a "Blue Gemini" patch... |

Mine arrived today. A beautiful replica patch! It is great that we can buy replica patches like this. It is not a cheap copy, it is a true high quality replica, produced in a limited number. Patches like that are treasures in everyone´s collection! Thanks to spacepatches.nl for the Dyna Soar patch, and I hope we will see more good replicas of rare old patches in the future... |

I'm interested in ordering this patch as well as Tim's. Could someone provide the information regarding where these can be ordered. Did not see ordering information on the site that was referenced. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. |

I always loved the X-20 Dyna-Soar project and first put together an X-20 patch design over six years ago, aiming to produce a simple image consistent with other early space patches. I have come back to the idea a few times since then but somehow I never quite reached the stage of putting it into production. Last time I came close Jacques released his excellent replica patch (see above) based on a real vintage design so I decided to hold off on my "fantasy" design for a while.I finally came back to the project recently and looking back over old X-20 images to get some fresh inspiration my eye was caught by some of the artwork used for the X20 roll-out. In the image above you can just about make out that the right hand extended hexagon appears to contain an outline drawing of an X-20 which was what my design was already based around. Seeing it in this unusual shape was the final inspiration I needed to ditch my original round design and put a patch with this shape into production. Although the design is essentially a "fantasy" one I'm very happy with it and I think it's reasonable to say the design is consistent with artwork used at the roll-out of the X-20. I think the unique shape has a real 1960s feel to it that nicely reflects the unique nature of the X-20 project itself. If you'd like to buy one of these patches please visit this thread on the Buy, Sell, Trade forum. |
