The Charles Schulz Museum has recreated the studio where Schulz worked. It has the actual art supplies, furniture and other items that Schulz treasured. Hanging on the wall in a place of honor is a framed letter from President Eisenhower. The curious thing is the letter is completely insignificant and has nothing whatsoever to do with Schulz.I asked a volunteer and he explained that as a WW2 veteran Schulz was a great admirer of Eisenhower. He always wanted an Eisenhower autograph. A fan heard of this and so he sent Schulz his Eisenhower letter. Schulz wrote back to the fan and told him how delighted he was with the gift. The fan was really happy to have an actual Charles Schulz autograph. Charles Schulz was extremely famous and extremely well respected. And yet, apparently, he was too shy or too self-effacing to simply write to Eisenhower and ask for his signature. | |
