Legend has it that Wally Schirra bought John Young's famous corned beef sandwich at Wolfie's Restaurant in Cocoa Beach. What ever happened to Wolfie’s? When did it close?

From a previous thread about the Cape Canaveral-area hotels and motels:
The fate of the Ramada Inn & Wolfie's Restaurant became clear...

Close analysis of period postcard photos of the Holiday Inn and Ramada Inn Wolfie's and Ramada Inn, combined with Google Maps Streetview and Bing Maps Birdseye views, show that the Ramada Inn & Wolfie's did become part of the Holiday Inn. Both the old Holiday Inn and the old Ramada Inn form the present day International Palms Resort.

I just came across a very good article on Wolfie's.

It seems that it was a family friendly place that catered to young kids. It's a real shame that it's gone.

I just returned from the Food Lab at Space Center Houston. I ordered the "Smuggler" from their deli. It was advertised as a faithful reproduction of John Young's contraband sandwich. It was completely delicious.
