Just watched on Amazon Prime the new documentary movie about Paul van Hoeydonck and "The Fallen Astronaut." A terrific watch and very comprehensive.
Belgian artist Paul Van Hoeydonck was fascinated by space travel, he began to think about a work of art on the moon. On August 2, 1971, Apollo 15 Commander David Scott secretly placed a little plaque and a small sculpture in a crater to commemorate those astronauts and cosmonauts who lost their lives. The dream seemed to have come true, but soon turned into a nightmare.
It is a shame Dave Scott did not contribute but great to see most of the principal characters not least Paul, Marleen and Al Worden.

My only very minor criticism: there are a handful of brief excerpts in which Paul van Hoeydonck speaks passionately in his native tongue: English subtitles would have been beneficial.

I understand that while the on line program lasts some 50 minutes there will be an extended version (90 minutes) available on dvd and blu ray in due course.

Thank you Danny van Hoecke for you contribution in bringing this excellent documentary to fruition.

Thanks for the tip, Rick. I've just watched it and it's very good. I completely agree with you on the subject of subtitles as it was clear that Paul was very animated at times and I would love to know what he was saying (sadly my Flemish and German is poor).

Another interesting insight into Apollo 15.
