Came across an unusual NASA photo, 61-MR3-107. Thin stock b/w photo, front has NASA worm which dates it to no earlier than mid-'70s. Back however, has purple text and a Washington 25 postal code, which would date it to early '60s - and the NASA worm was not in use then. There is no print paper manufacturers' watermark on back.

Any other cases of mixed date photos out there?

Oh, OK. So this is not unusual, then. With value, real or perceived, or vintage photos, how is one supposed to know when these were printed? Obviously the NASA worm logo is the key here.

If the worm is on the front, a good guess is between 1976 and sometime in the mid to late 1980's. I am also guessing that the paper is thick gloss (plastic) type.

The "worm" logo was created in 1975 and retired in 1992.

Yep... STS-52 (launched in '92) was the last crew litho with the worm logo.

All times are CT (US)
