I didn't know Janet Kavandi wasn't the Flight Crew Operations Director director anymore (as of August 2014 I guess?). Who is the director now?

FCOD no longer exists. It was merged with MOD to become the Flight Operations Directorate.

Under FOD, Brian Kelly is director and Stephen Koerner is deputy. There are also assistant directors:

  • ISS: Ginger Kerrick
  • Orion: Jimmy Spivey
  • Commercial Crew: Doug Hurley
  • CST-100: Kelly Beck
  • Operations: Mike Fossum

Thanks for clarifying, Robert. I was out of the loop on that one.

That explains why the astronaut emblem is in the FOD insignia. Although I am a bit interested how the Astronaut Office, and Aircraft Ops fits into this organization - are they under the rather broadly named "Operations" element there, directed by Michael Fossum?

The Astronaut Office is one of fours offices under the Flight Operations Directorate. The other three are: Planning, Integration and Control Office, Space Flight Training Management Office and the Flight Director Office.

There are also six divisions under FOD:

  • Aircraft Operations Division
  • Mission Systems Division
  • Space Flight Systems Division
  • Flight Dynamics Division
  • Operations Division
  • EVA, Robotics and Crew Systems Division
There is a Vehicle Integration Test Office under the Astronaut Office, led by Nicole Stott as Chief.

Richard Clark is Chief of the Aircraft Operations Division, with Greg C. Johnson as deputy.

All times are CT (US)
