Buzz Aldrin is coming to Tucson in mid-February for a private, mail-in signing with Astronaut Central. Deadline for receipt of orders and items is Thursday, February 11, so don't delay. Buzz will not be attending Spacefest, and has told us that he is not planning to attend any more autograph shows, so if you want his autograph, this is your chance. |

Would I be correct in assuming that Buzz has not changed his position on signing as Edwin? |

Buzz is entitled to charge whatever he wants, but that doesn't mean anyone has to pay for it. I guess I will pass if he wants $700 to sign a beta cloth patch, or $2,100 to sign an item previously signed by Neil. I respect and admire Buzz, but in my opinion these fees are excessive (even tho I am sure Novaspace will receive a ton of requests). |

I agree, let Buzz be Buzz! While his fees are considerable let's not get in a tizzy about it, we knew what they were and that they were likely to rise and I for one am grateful that Buzz is even willing to sign at his age. If people are particular about what they want autographed then it's their decision if they want to pay the fees, if they just want his autograph then looking on eBay for a signed copy of one of his books for approximately fifty bucks might be a better option. Before it kicks off I think we should agree to not make this a 'complaining about Buzz's fees thread.' |

If he truly retires from shows, he might not be back at NovaSpace for over a year. By that point, he'd be over 87. While that age doesn't guarantee bad health, and he looks and gets around fine for 86, if you need him on something that can't be bought, now is the time. But, for $2100, your Armstrong item should be in great shape! |

I have a lunar trajectory poster that I have been working on for two years and it currently has 15 signatures of which nine are Apollo astronauts. This year I am seeing Gene Cernan in Pontefract and will be attending SpaceFest and Starmus in June so will be adding more signatures there.Rather than getting solely the signature I like to have inscriptions and so choose what I would like writing. Last year I saw Buzz at Autographica in London and to really add to the poster I paid the maximum extra to get as much signed as permitted. As well as the signature I paid extra for it being on a larger poster, Apollo 11, mission date and the 10 extra words. I spent time finding the words by reading articles and choose the word Armalcolite. When Buzz wrote this he underlined Arm, Al and Col separately. I knew the relevance of this word but his assistant asked him what it meant. He looked at me and said "She's only been with me for 7 years." I filmed Buzz signing the poster and he took over four minutes and took his time writing. I paid £660 but for me it was worth it and if I had let the opportunity pass I would have regretted this. I would rather have one poster signed by many rather than many pictures signed by an individual. |

In response to David C's earlier question, Buzz will not sign as "Edwin". |

I saw a copy of the letter in which the Apollo 11 crew gave permission for the lunar mineral to be named for them. Michael Collins added a hand written note that read, "Thanks for making me the col in Armalcolite." Sadly, the letter disappeared in a lab renovation. |

Glad I got my Buzz Aldrin autographed patch from Eagle One Aerospace back in the 90's, $24.95 was a steal. Amazing how the prices have gone up. |

Now I am torn about whether I should pay to get Buzz to sign my original NASA lithograph Apollo 11 crew photo and add Mike Collins later (no Armstrong) or just shell out the money for a complete crew that seems to be going for more than $2K. I do not have a signed crew for Apollo 11, but I do have all three separately. |

I see Buzz is now doing Salt Lake City Comic Con. That retirement from public signings was pretty short lived. |

Aldrin's website indicates he is delivering a speech at the Con; it, nor the con's website, state if he will be signing (the latter indicates photo ops and autographs are TBA). |

I've never seen a Comic Con page list a guest and have a price "To Be Announced" where the guest was only going to do a speech. If the intention from the beginning is to only do a speech then the Salt Lake City Comic Con page is misleading. If they are not misleading and he does do more signing appearances that would really suck as I just spent $2500 for something through the mail that I could have done in person. (which would be a thousand times better). |

Buzz is doing a talk in London at the end of February and afterwards he is doing a book signing. I was unable to get tickets but on the website beforehand it said that he would only sign his two new books, nothing else, and he would also just sign his name, no personalisations or inscriptions. He could be doing similar here. |

If indeed Buzz does a public signing, it will be news to us. We were told that he would not be doing any more autograph shows, period. |

Also I had requested him to write 2nd man on the Moon. Novaspace took the time to get ahold of me the day before the signing to tell me they thought he would insist on writing "First Humans on the Moon" instead — which he did.I had not seen him write that anywhere and had suspected there was a reason for it, and it wasn't a big deal but it was nice of them to take the time to let me know. |

Reminds of when I interviewed Buzz back in 2012 — in my intro I referred to him as "Along with Neil Armstrong, one of the first two humans to land on the Moon."He proceeded to inform me "We landed at the same time" - he thought I had referred to him as the second man to walk on the Moon (which of course he is) and think he took exception to it. |

Just to follow-up on this, Salt Lake City Comic Con announced the details of Buzz's appearance: there were a limited number of autograph tickets (now sold out) for $100 each, limited to having his book "Mission to Mars" signed (a copy of the book was included in the price). |

Thanks to Novaspace for getting my helmet and print to me in one piece, which was not an easy task. Great packing job! |
