Did you note how much the total solar eclipse earth-track is passing close to Baikonur Cosmodrome just few hours before Soyuz TMA-8 launch ?

There are pictures on Yahoo (link may expire) of the eclipse taken at Baikonur (thanks to Ben Cooper for the reference).

In related news, the ISS 12 crew viewed the eclipse from above, although not within the path of totality:

Crew members onboard the International Space Station captured images of this morning's solar eclipse, as they witnessed the spectacle from their unique vantage point 230 miles above the Earth. Video of the eclipse from the station will be available on the NASA TV Video File on the Media Channel starting at noon EST.

Cameras mounted outside the 200-ton orbiting laboratory recorded the video at about 5:50 a.m. EST, as the eclipse passed over Turkey. Photos were taken by the crew as the station passed over Lebanon. Imagery is available at:
