The other day while at work I saw a brief story, which aired on Inside Edition with Deborah Norville, about Cheryl McNair's house fire in Texas. I believe it was in the Seabrook area, since the fire engines had Seabrook markings on them?

The story was only about a minute or two long and stated that her house did have a fire and that the fire department was able to save her cat and help salvage her husband's personal items, such as his flight suit, medals, and other items.

A great job by the Seabrook Fire Department to extinguish the fire and help save what they could from the fire! Great job fellow firefighters!

Being a firefighter, I know how important it is to salvage and save people's personal belongings and pets in a house fire. It means the world to them and I am sure it means the world to Cheryl McNair as well.

Can anyone confirm this story and on what day did the house fire occur? Thank you.

The fire took place on March 27, 2019 in El Lago, just north of Seabrook.
Andrew Gutacker, the chief of the Seabrook Volunteer Fire Department, told reporters that the fire appeared to have started in the attic around 5 a.m. and was possibly electrical.

He also said the house contained NASA memorabilia, some of which was salvaged.

"NASA is just learning about the fire, and our hearts go out to the McNair family," the space agency said in a statement. "We appreciate the tremendous support and assistance provided by first responders and the community."

Here is the Inside Edition segment on the fire you saw:

Happy to hear that her family, cat and herself are ok. That's most important.

All times are CT (US)
