Wow, that's a shock. We were bantering on FB the day before. I'd known Richard for quite a while. He could be controversial and was always unique. Truly one of a kind. Life is short. Hug the ones you love. My thoughts and prayers for his family. RIP Richard.

Quick question though... he was active on Facebook in February, how could he have died in January?

Per the Facebook activity: This could have been his wife. She was talking about shutting down several online accounts that he had after she figured out how to get access.

Very sorry to hear this. I had a few dealings with him over the years. Always insightful. Hopefully some of his collection will make it to auction one day. RIP

His collection will begin being auctioned by RegencySuperior in May. See this topic.

Richard's many years of collecting/accumulating/selling had a big effect on the space hobby and many collectors - in many ways.

Few could rival his vast space collection/accumulation, and those bidding in the up-coming Regency-Superior auctions containing parts of his accumulation will be treated to a wealth of space material.

R.I.P.

I am very sorry to hear this. My condolences to his family. I had purchased a couple of items from him last summer and spoke to him via email during the course of a few weeks. It was a pleasure to converse with him. A very interesting person who had the opportunity to go places and know people most of us will only read about.
