It's Zachary Quinto, Pittsburgh native, in tribute to his first Trek film without his friend and mentor, Leonard (not Leo) Nimoy.

Looks like they are really trying to attract young viewers...

Not sure about that... keeping in mind that we are only seeing about 90 seconds of footage that is most certainly sliced and diced from different scenes, I see a lot that could hark back to classic Star Trek and "Star Trek."

For example, the first thought that came to my mind when seeing the formation of the attacking spacecraft was the Tholian Web. And the fight scenes on the rocky planet made me wonder if we were going to see the Gorn.

Even though brief, McCoy's banter with Spock is classic Trek. And when has Kirk not sought out a new love interest on an away mission?

The use of the Beastie Boys track is a nice link to the same in the 2009 "Star Trek" movie. And the apparent destruction of the NCC-1701 has me excited to see what the Enterprise-A will look like in this rebooted world.

(And, speaking of the music, the bridge on which we see it being played is not the Enterprise, so could that be a Bird of Prey?)
