Robert PearlmanJeff Bezos has a role as a Starfleet official in Star Trek Beyond.
...co-writer Doug Jung shed some light on Bezos's appearance: "I remember that day when we shot, he was in a ton of alien makeup. I remember hearing him say, 'This is so great.' ... I just got a big kick out of that."

Jung continued: "Someone like Jeff Bezos — where you're like — you imagine the world is his oyster. But he got such a thrill out of something that was a day or half a day on set. It was great."

Update: From director Justin Lin on Twitter:
Great thing about making Trek is having passionate people drop by, like Jeff Bezos. Here he is with Lydia Wilson.

A number of critics (and a few friends who have been lucky enough to see the movie early) are saying that "Star Trek Beyond" feels like an extended episode of The Original Series.
In an odd way, by lowering the stakes and focusing more on the crew, Star Trek Beyond actually feels more like Star Trek: The Original Series than a slew of fan service could ever provide. — Matt Goldberg, Collider

STAR TREK BEYOND does something magical: has big, bold action but puts these characters in, basically, a TOS episode. For me it was a dream. — Jordan Hoffman, Host of ENGAGE: The Official Star Trek Podcast

#StarTrekBeyond feels like a TOS episode in a way that gives this new Trekverse a really long future. Fun, pretty dark, lots of fan moments. — Jen Yamato, Entertainment reporter/critic for The Daily Beast

GilbertSaw it yesterday. I really enjoyed the film but the plot made no sense, as usual. The reboot actors are good and continue to grow on me. I just wish they would have less hand-to-hand combat scenes, although I know that is supposedly what younger audiences want to see. Still an enjoyable film.
