American Astronautical Society (AAS) release
Ordway Award for Sustained Excellence in Space Flight History
Nominations sought
The Ordway Award for Sustained Excellence in Space Flight History is named in memory of Frederick I. Ordway III (1927-2014), human spaceflight advocate and chronicler of the history of rocketry and space travel.
The award recognizes exceptional, sustained efforts to inform and educate on spaceflight and its history through one or more media, such as writing, editing, or publishing; preparation and/or presentation of exhibits; or production for distribution through film, television, art, or other non-print media.
The award is managed by the History Committee of the AAS.
Nomination forms are available on the AAS website.

When I first started to read this topic, I had thought to myself, Robert Pearlman should be included. Well, long and behold, I now see further down in the postings that Robert had been selected for an Ordway space award! An excellent choice (along with Asif as well) as Robert does so much in promoting aerospace history in so many categories and on a large scale. Congratulations my space friend!

I felt the same - certainly a well-earned award (especially the SUSTAINED theme), and esteemed company for both.

Many congratulations Robert, not just as the founder and long-time sustainer of collectSPACE, but for your inspiration and behind-the scenes support to me and many others over the years. You are a true champion of human space exploration and thoroughly deserve any such honour and recognition that comes your way. Not of course forgetting Asif, who is also passionate about the subject. This shines through in his amazing talent for exploring spaceflight history so wonderfully well and authoritatively in his publications.

Congratulations Robert! What an honor! Do you know if the award will be conferred in an in-person meeting/conference? And if so, do you know where or when it will be held?

Thank you everyone! All of you share in this honor as you have provided the inspiration, friendship and enthusiasm that has driven my efforts.
The award will be presented at the American Astronautical Society's Wernher von Braun Memorial Symposium at the University of Alabama in Huntsville during the luncheon on Oct. 14 with a keynote by Jim Free, NASA's associate administrator for the Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate.

The symposium is being streamed online, but registration costs $250 ($200 for AAS members or $50 for students).
I will inquire about getting a clip of the awards segment only to share afterwards.

This post is overdue but I was waiting for the video to become available and for the award to arrive here so I could share both. Certainly one of the highlights of the past year, I am still very appreciative of the American Astronautical Society for the honor and grateful for the collectSPACE community who make my work possible.
