Arthur C. Clarke's "3001: The Final Odyssey" set as Syfy miniseries: Forty six years after the release of Stanley Kubrick's groundbreaking 2001: A Space Odyssey, the final book in Arthur C. Clarke's Odyssey series is getting a screen adaptation. Syfy has put in development 3001: The Final Odyssey, a miniseries based on the fourth and final Odyssey book.Clarke's Odyssey series spanned over 30 years, with the initial publication of 2001 in 1968, and the final 3001 in 1997. The opening book was immortalized by Kubrick's 1968 feature. The second book, 2010: Odyssey Two, was the only other of the novels in the series to be brought to the screen as a 1984 movie directed by Peter Hyams. The 3001 adaptation is being done with the blessing and support of both the Kubrick and Clarke estates. |

Outstanding!I read 3001 twice after the book came out, it was so good. Time to go revisit the book before it comes out on screen... Thanks for the heads-up, Spaceaholic! |

3001, I actually never read, but I do remember reading 2061: Odyssey Three, which I guess is getting skipped... |
