Mike was the biggest fan of our Soyuz patches. Today, Soyuz TMA-13M will be launched. Enjoy the ride Mike. You will always be part of the team.

It is with sadness that I pass along word from Mike Zolotorow's widow, Phyllis, that their son, Craig, passed away today (Jan. 12) from complications of kidney dialysis. He was 30.

Condolences to Phyllis and her family. Those folks have seen too much sadness for one clan.

My deepest condolences. To lose your husband is awful, to lose a son is just a tragedy.

This tragic news hits those of us hard who knew Mike and his son, Craig. We know of both Mike's and especially Craig's life-long battles with illnesses and how Craig's mother, Phyllis, has strongly stood by both and has dealt with even her own health problems lately.

I know of no family as strong and brave as this one, and who deserved so much better.

Well said, Bob, and my heartfelt condolences to Phyllis and other family members and friends.

Craig and Mike, together once again, are in a very special place as bright heavenly stars together with a host of angels above us all.

A scholarship has been established in Craig Zolotorow's memory:
The Craig Zolotorow Memorial Scholarship has been established to keep the memory of Craig living with a $500 per year scholarship to a non-paid student currently involved in the student newspaper THE HCC TIMES, who is planning to continue in the journalism or communications area after leaving Howard Community College. The student must have completed two semesters; financial need is preferred.

Checks should be made payable to:
Howard Community College Educational Foundation, Inc.

In the memo line designate:
The Craig Zolotorow Memorial Scholarship

Howard Community College Educational Foundation, Inc
10901 Little Patuxent Parkway
Columbia, Maryland 21044

A donation in any amount is greatly appreciated. All donations are tax deductible.

You can read more about the inspiration behind the scholarship in this essay by Phyllis Zolotorow.
