I'll certainly keep everyone updated, and hope to know by the weekend. We had thought it would be appropriate to do it near KSC.

Mr. Donald Brady Jr., was friend and father figure to me. In the short time that I knew Donald, he was always very generous to me as a fellow space collector and helped me out quit a bit.

Donald was a great person who was very passionate about his hobbies, his son and was a wealth of knowledge. He was not in the hobby to make money, but was a true collector. Anything he sold, he would tell me that the money was for his son. He was a very caring and giving person and one that I wish I could have called a father.

I planned on visiting Donald in Florida during Memorial Day weekend next month as part of a long drive home from my Air Force school here in San Antonio, TX and had brought a couple of items with me from his hometown to give to him. It is very hard for me to write about him because I was just communicating with him last week via email.

I only wish that I had knew him earlier in my life. Rest in peace my space friend. I will miss you my friend.

I am obviously very upset that my dad is no longer with us as you can imagine and I am simply running on steam as far as sleep is concerned. My apologies that this original message must be short and to the point as I am fulfilling all of his last wishes and talking with the funeral home this morning.

My dad had arrangements made with Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Fl. 33759. As I learn more, I will be happy to share with you his cs friends.

If you should wish to send a card or share a story about my dad, you can send it to, Rob Brady P.O. Box 5718, Hudson, Florida 34674.

Those that have reached out to me already and through your kind words and concern here on this site, THANK YOU!!!! It does my heart well to know that he was so well liked and thought of by all of you here on cS however it doesn't come as a surprise, my dad was a GREAT man with a good heart. I am truly touched. Much Thanks,

Rob Brady

Very sorry to hear this sad news. When I started out in the hobby there were a few notable people who gave freely of their time and knowledge to help the novice. Don was one of these and his advice was invaluable.

Thanks and Godspeed.

My dad always had music playing, be it in his home or car. On the day he took his life outside his estranged mothers house because she disowned him over a silly disagreement, this song was on track one and ready to be heard. My dad loved his mother, I suppose one could say he died of a broken heart.

In loving memory of my dad, Donald R. Brady Jr. 8/14/1949 - 4/03/2012 ... Love hard, love fast, there may be no tomorrow — I heard you dad, love your son, Robert Brady

Song: Going Without by The Fixx:

Going Without
Time, time, time again I lose control of the situation
I go spinning round this helpless universe
Why, why, why? I cry
Will I ever understand
This complicated web of lies
Designed to shield my sense of pride
And tomorrow, when it breaks
Will I have the strength to face
Another stupid, silly scene
Can you tell me what it means?

I've been without for so long.
I've been without and you get me wrong.
I've been without for so long.

Deep, deep, deep desire to fly away
Can't get much higher than
A falling stone that's been thrown from a bridge.
Scream, scream, scream about
The lack of purpose in my life
That seems to magnify a scary sense of doubt
And tomorrow when it breaks
Will I have the strength to fake
Another stupid, silly scene
Can't you tell me what it means?

I've been without...

All the feelings I scorned, all the bridges I burned
You'd think a grown man would have learned
To shield his eyes from the light, face his demons in the night
And be sane again by morning light

I'd like to pride myself on being a man who gets by in the end
When all I'm left is circumstance and a chance to make amends
Just a little self respect because the smile makes the man...you know.

I've been without for so long.

Don Brady will be put to rest on April 27th at 10 a.m. at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater Fla. off of Sunset Point. It will be an informal observation as requested by my dad.

Again, thanks to all of you for your well wishes, Rob Brady.

Don's Internment was yesterday near St. Petersburg, FL. His son Rob emailed me and said it went very well. Member Bill O'Donnell also attended and sent me an email and asked that I post his comments here.

I was unable to get off work to attend which caused me a lot of discomfort at work shall we say, but that will be rectified shortly.

In any event, here is what Bill had to say:

It is with a mixture of sadness and happiness that I can report that "my and our friend" Donald R. Brady, Jr., aka Apollo11lem5, arrived safely home yesterday, April 26, 2012.

I have not been a frequent contributor to this forum but I wanted to write to say how honored I was to be present on a beautiful Spring morning as Don was laid to rest. I was humbled to be welcomed by his son Rob, daughter Jen and family members.

I thank them for their kind words and including me in this difficult time. Don meant so much to so many of us and it is in that spirit that he will be remembered.

Godspeed Don Brady, as you slip the surly bounds of Earth and touch the face of God.

Please allow me to add that there was no greater friend to Don than Bill. He is grieving greatly over this, and we shared some stories in our recent phone call.

To assist with Bill's and Don's son Rob's grief (and all of ours), and in a remembrance of Don - we are still planning a get together at or near KSC in the next month or two. I am off to Spacefest the last week in May and Bill has some issues the next couple of weeks. But we will work out a date soon and let everyone know.

Soar high my friend, soar high free of pain.
