I apologise if I should know this or it is mentioned somewhere and I haven't seen it. But when did this fantastic forum begin please?Over the few years I have been a member it's been a truly fantastic way of chatting with like-minded people all over the world. |

collectSPACE debuted July 20, 1999, on the same day as the 30th anniversary of Apollo 11 and, by coincidence, the same day that Space.com came online, too.You can read about some of the history of this site as part of its Wikipedia entry... |

Yep and "in the beginning" you didn't have to register if I recall correctly... |

Registration was always required to post. The first members date to the first day the forums opened in November 1999. |

Robert, is there a way to tell in which order members registered? This has the makings of a unique cS lapel pin idea. You, of course, would be designated "cS1"! |

There is, and there's been long time plans for "first 100" group pins... |

The number of posts might give an indication about the time one has been cS forum member. That pin is a great idea...collectSPACE.com how it used to be; try the WayBackMachine. |

As I posted awhile ago, it would be nice if we could all purchase pins. Maybe gold coloured for the 'first 100' and silver for the rest of us? |

I still have my space.com t-shirt that I got when I joined, along with a short-lived subscription to Ad Astra. I'd pretty much forgotten about the site, too...

Yeah, I just returned to the space.com after months of neglect. They have neat videos. |

"Everybody, let's welcome Hart to our fold!""Hi, Hart!" "Before collectSPACE, my life... my life was one of disarray. My partner left me because I kept getting scammed buying Gagarin forgeries, and amassed three hundred Lisa Nowak signed photos, thinking they'd be a good investment. Heck, I thought it was Louis Armstrong, or maybe Lance Armstrong that was the first man on the moon. I even believed for real that a star could be named after me. "But now, now I have seen the light - no pun intended. I know now not to ask 'How do you go to the bathroom in space', and that a meaningful encounter with an astronaut or cosmonaut can be just as exciting as getting a signature. "I am a cSer...."
