I have to admit, Duke, that for a while I wasn't sure what to make of you. Then, about a year ago, my wife and I had to put our wonderful dog of 15+ years down. I was absolutely heartbroken. I went onto cS that evening and found a string in which you advocated sending James Brown into space. The mental image of that cracked me up and broke up the grief, at least for a while. Thanks for that, Duke. I guess I'm still not sure what to make of you, though. Get well and come back soon. Please. ------------------ Don |

I'm happy to report the Duke is doing much better than expected. I'm encouraged that he's getting better. But, judging from some of the shenanegans the nurses report I'm afraid he's going to be his same old self. He was surprised that so many people wished him well. I mentioned the photo of the glove and he asked how many fingers were pointing up, so you can see he's on track. --Pat |

Happy to hear that Duke is doing better. It sounds like he's back in his element which is good for him. Tell him I said to keep those nurses on their toes.Laughter is the best medicine and he's surely given me my share with his humor and wit. |

Speaking of the Duke, and my effort to get the DP to post a Babe Ruth-style get-better post "For the kid," I just emailed this thread to the DP, now that my computer's repaired. He asked me to define "thread" over the weekend. I told him I'd send him a couple of examples, since I couldn't print them out before the AHOF weekend. So now am laboring over a "Glad You're Better" post! |

OK. The DP just phoned in, having read all three threads I sent him (DP happy birthday, DOU's hospitalization, DOU's recovery). He empowered me to write that he "deplores" that he has been unaware of the fun we have here. Duke, you will be proud. He called you a "reprobate" and couldn't settle on "famous" or "infamous" or "notorious" and asked me to consult a thesaurus. I told him "infamous reprobate" was probably about right. Next: I send him my master list of political blogs!! |

At last!! I've finally been called something I can repeat without getting slapped. So why not enlighten us all on your master blogger list? This is something I'd like to see. I'm betting my stack of Dominican Republic pesos your list leans more Parodi than Berlesconi so to speak. |
