Found this at an antique shop. Would appreciate opinions on authenticity and value.

Can you post a larger closeup if the signature? Feel free to email it to me if you'd like.

Steve, if you click on the cover above, it links to a larger version of the image (the link was initially broken but is now fixed).

When looking at the cachet through a jeweler's magnifier, it seems to be made up of a series of various size dots. The ink of the signature is a slightly different color, and seems to cover up the dots making up the cachet. There is no bleed through from the signature.

Presuming this is indeed real ink on paper (not some sort of print), it is authentic in my opinion. Very nice find.

What would the value be for this, assuming it is authentic, of course? Sure looks good to me. Not planning on selling it.

Well, another contributor to cS has recently listed a Joe Walker signed X-15 cover postmarked for Walker's 12/20/62 flight (no cachet, and with a stain) at $200, reduced the price to $150, and just now to $120.

I have not bought or sold Walker covers for many years, but remember $200 as the norm for primo covers with his autograph back then.

Now, with respect to your cover, the autograph definitely looks good (and it is definitely not Walker's rubber-stamped signature — yes, he had one). The cachet is breathtaking however, Sarzin had these cachets postmarked the day after Rushworth's astronaut-wings X-15 flight, not on the day of one of Walker's flights.

So, we have a bit of a quandary on value here. I'd say that $120 for any good Walker autograph, on any piece of paper, would be a bargain. And being on a Sarzin X-15 related cover may help, but not sure about that.

Any thoughts from the rest of the forum?

WOW! That's great! $120 is a bargain for Walker's autograph? So $23 was pretty good investment, wouldn't you say?
