With a binder of shuttle autographs came this portion of a letter, purportedly signed by Scott Carpenter. A Post-It was attached, "Not a real signature." However, also included was a COA from Christophe Stickel Autographs that it is authentic.

As I'm not the original buyer I'm not out anything. If it's real, I'll put it up. If it's not, I'll get it to the recycling bin.

According to Chris Spain's site there are no known Scott Carpenter autopen patterns.

That looks like a very nice example of his signature. A very nice find!

Unless it is a photocopy or fascimile, looks good to me.

I have never seen a Carpenter Autopen, but I did recently come across an exemplar I think was probably secretarial. There was no danger of it fooling anyone... Not even close.

Shouldn't the wording of the letter fragment ring alarm bells?

Why should it ring alarm bells?
