From the auction description: "Autograph was obtained and signed in person at the Centennial Of Flight Exhibition in 2003 at the Rockefeller plaza..."And from a first-hand account from a cS member of the CoF celebration at Rockefeller Plaza: "All in all a great day, and although approaching him was impossible, I will at least remember having heard Armstrong speak, at least once..." I'm guessing Armstrong did not sign many things at this event in 2003... not to mention, the signature itself is quite horrid. |

Unfortunately I never did get a Neil Armstrong autograph thru' the mail when I could have. This is a regret I have but personally I would never pay "big bucks" for one now due to the vast number of forgeries out there. |

Oh my, that has to be one of the worst forgieries I have seen of Armstrong's autograph. Is the entire name even an inch long on that dollar bill? It is so small. That needs to be reported and removed off of eBay before someone wastes their money. |

Here's something to think about:Based on what I've read, the series on a dollar bill gets a new letter when there's a new treasurer of the US (a new year is for a new Secretary of the Treasurer). In this case, the signature on the left is of Anna Escobedo Cabral who became treasurer in 2005. However, Rosario Marin resigned as treasurer in June 2003, and Cabral was acting treasurer following that. For those in the know, could 2003A series bills have been printed and circulated between June 2003 and Armstrong's appearance in August? Supposedly, 2003A series $2 bills were issued in 2006.... |

Don't you love it when a seller is an obvious liar? "This autograph is a 100% authentic as it was obtained by ME IN PERSON." (In 2003, no less.)Shameless. By the way, the three day auction is a common tactic to "fly under the radar" to avoid being removed by eBay. |

In my opinion, this looks like another example of the type of fraudulent bidding activity highlighted in an earlier thread so I'm not feeling too sorry for this bidder. |

But now it has a worthless COA signed by Mike somebody! Since the last time the auction was removed by eBay, the seller must have gone out and gotten some fancy paper to print that COA up. LOL |

I pointed the seller to this thread and here is his response:"Check it out. ┌∩┐(◣_◢)┌∩┐ I got a legit COA and ebay said that was good enough and all I needed! So good-luck getting my listing removed again. Your a joke, so is your collect space. You should get a real hobby like a LIFE, instead of talking bout other people. Stop harassing me. God bless tho :-)" Don't you love fake sellers who end their message with a deceitful "God Bless"? Shameful. |

So he has fabricated a COA to prove his forged autograph is authentic. I don't which is funnier the autograph or the COA. |

The name is Michael Canivino I think. Canivino Memorabilia? The COA has pretty colors and designs... it must be real! |

Oooh and guess what? Our mystery new bidder is back and willing to pay $300 this time. Anyone got the cyber equivalent of a wooden stake or a silver bullet to finally slay this auction? |

Complaint to eBay on grounds of defacement/disfigurement of US currency?United States Code TITLE 18 - CRIMES AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE PART I - CRIMES CHAPTER 17 - COINS AND CURRENCY § 333. Mutilation of national bank obligations I'd argue that with a forgery that shocking, this Federal Reserve Note is defaced. Maybe the threat of a call to the local field office of US Secret Service might be sufficient to dissuade a relist. |
