Posting this, as it appears the seller has it listed in the Buran area of eBay.

I am not involved in auction.

Not just an obvious US Space Shuttle tile, but it also appears to have been attached to something at one point in time (flown?). Hard to tell from the pictures, but it looks like it has some heat damage. I wonder how it was acquired and how legitimate the circumstances were.

Worth noting, the part number indicates it was located near the front of the orbiter, on the side specifically, somewhere in the area directly below the RCS thrusters. Based on the shape of the tile, I would make a wild guess that it might have been on the left hand side of the orbiter.

*Edit*

I think I was right. Here's where I found it on my tile chart (note that the chart is of the left hand side). Or, here on an actual picture of the Orbiter. This is assuming that it's from Atlantis (which is what my chart covers). I'm not sure how tiles/numbering differ on the other orbiters.

Do those charts show VT numbered tiles? I have two tiles, from the early program (perhaps 1980-1985).

I could be wrong, but I think the VT tiles are actually test tiles.

I could certainly be mistaken... the VT appears to be identical to the VO. The VT I've seen listed also included "Eng. Test", mine does not.

I do have several test tiles auctioned from a closed Florida museum. They carry VO, OV-102 only, and quite a few other numbers under VO (I think OMB); were mounted to something (red material on back). These are a rough brown material, painted white.

All times are CT (US)
