I am curious of the value of my unpersonalized signed copy of Gene Cernan's book "The Last Man On The Moon". I met Gene in San Diego in 2004 and he was gracious and signed my first edition copy of his book. I plan on keeping the book but for insurance purposes would like to know the value. Thank you. |

A signed version of this book is currently on eBay for about $79 + postage (Buy it now) 150863113477, so insurance cover for about $100 would cover replacement as this book is found signed easily. |

About $250Cernan's signature is now $200 for the book, and First Editions numbered less than 5000. |

The eBay listing cited above is a first edition but a 3rd printing. $79 seems like a fair price for that one. A book in that condition with a full number line (1st/1st) would be worth more. I wouldn't pay $250 for one though, maybe half that... Maybe. That being said, I wouldn't part with a book that was personally signed by him either.

I am definitely keeping this beautiful book that was signed by Commander Cernan. My copy is a first printing first edition. I was just curious of the value for insurance purposes. |

I suppose a first edition would read: First St. Martin's Griffin Edition: July 2000How much would insurance value be for an inscribed first edition? |

Nobody should even consider paying that much, let alone $200. There are three nice, unpersonalized copies on eBay at this moment for $99 each. He was still signing these for free through the mail a couple months ago (according to posts here). |

Let me clarify; they're ALL first editions. FIRST PRINTINGs (1999) are pretty rare.At autograph shows, Gene charges his normal price now ($200) otherwise they wind up on eBay (case in point) TTM, the volume is much less, and they are always personalized, and usually nice inscription, also. Still, only one per. The question was about insurance (replacement) value; not what's on eBay. |

If I wanted to replace mine, I'd go to eBay. |
