I would appreciate comments regarding the authenticity of the signatures.

Providing information on when and from whom you obtained the signed photos would be the 1st step toward possibly authenticating them.

Ask the seller for any information he can provide about the history of the two signed photos. In the meantime both the Komarov and Belyayev check out well when compared to authentic examples, so indications are that these are authentic signed items in my opinion.

I recall a pair of Orlan gloves signed by Leonov (on one glove I think) sold at auction a year or two back for something in or around $2500... but can't remember the exact details.

A quick comment about the Leonov autogrqaph posted here . . .

Remember, the first spacewalker had a different signature pattern, much like the one seen here, when training as a Russian cosmonaut during the early/mid-1960s. He had about the same initial pattern even when he co-piloted Voskhod 2 in 1965 and for a few years after becoming the first man to walk in space, if I am not mistaken.

I think his signature characteristics started changing, with what most collectors are familiar with, either in the very-late 60s or early 70s, well before he flew his second spaceflight in 1975.

I do concur with Bob McL., though, that perhaps Voskhod pilots Komarov and Belyayev may indeed be authentic on the signed postcard-type print from Russia.

In my opinion these are all good signatures. They all conform to examples I possess and to the examples in the Sanabria guide, where you'll find an example of Leonov's "earlier" signature.

Shown here are examples of Leonov's early and later, more familiar, signatures from the Sanabria Cosmonaut Autograph Guide. For those collecting cosmonaut signatures, the Sanabria guide is a must.

Also from the Sanabria Guide is an example of Komarov's signature. Below that is an invitation card from 1965 to the Soviet Union's 20th anniversary celebration of their victory in the Second World War. Many dignataries were present and the owner of the card used it to acquire autographs of six cosmonauts in attendance.

Yuri Gagarin's autograph is at top left and also are signatures of two of the cosmonauts on the two photo-cards on eBay we're discussing: Komarov and Belyeyev. Careful examination will show how similar the eBay signatures of Komarov and Belyeyev are to the ones on the card.
