eBay seller kleerwite is offering a signed contract between the Group 3 astronauts and Harry Batten, hiring Batten as their "personal adviser" and agent.

The content of the contract is an interesting read and given the date of the document (March 1964), it includes early example autographs from the Group 3 members.

I don't generally point out eBay sales, but sale aside, the document is worth a look.

(For the record, I am not endorsing the sale or its seller. This post is for information purposes only.)

Robert, thanks for pointing that listing out. That is one of my listings. I actually have the Gemini 7 contract listed too.

Here is the eBay number 320490310989.

The Gemini 7 is interesting in that it is not signed by John Glenn because he had his own contract with Batten.

I suspect you meant to say Mercury 7, not Gemini 7.

I think the Group 3 contract is the first instance I've seen Cunningham sign as "Ronnie." He probably only used that signature for legal documents.

You're right... Not sure what got into me to write Gemini instead of Mercury. My New Years Resolution to do more multi-tasking doesn't seem to working too well!

I wanted to follow up on this previous conversation and let anyone know if they are interested in either of these Contracts, I have consigned both of them to the RR Auction space auction which ends Sept 22.

Here is the the Mercury Group 1 Contract and the Group 3 Contract.

Yes, the wives are a nice addition.

But, the content in these contracts on what was agreed to, is really amazing to me especially when you consider how different things were back then, and how early it was in the Astronauts being viewed as celebrities and heroes.

I just thought I would point one other listing that I have that is really a nice collection of amazing content. It was the NASA Doctor's Calendar and Diary of pretty much the entire Gemini Missions up to and including the Apollo 1 Fire.

If you like items that contain content, check out this.

Dr. Coons has some amazing handwritten notes that are described in the listing. But, there is so much more...especially when he writes about the deaths of all the Astronauts. For example he wrote about the deaths of See and Bassett, and writes about Bassett's decapitated head. Visiting Marilyn See that night and being turned away by John Young.

He also writes a lot of information following the Apollo 1 fire.

If you can enlarge the scans RR has posted, you should read them. It might be your only chance to see this much first person detail of the time.

All times are CT (US)
