I have two (2) "Apollo 11 30th Anniversary Commemorative" coins with "Actual metal from 'The Eagle'" in my collection, #3585. They are in a bi-fold plastic pack with a numbered COA. The coin in held in place in a black in color cardboard type square. The front of the coin has Buzz Aldrin on the moon with the raised letters: APOLLO 11 / JULY 20, 1969, and reverse has an eagle landing with raised letters "THE EAGLE HAS LANDED / 30th ANNIVERSARY". I would like to offer these on collectSPACE and would like an opinion on a fair price for members on this site. E-mail me for pic if needed. |

These were commercially-produced medallions that were the subject of a lawsuit. The flown Eagle metal was reportedly a repurposing of the NASA Manned Flight Awareness Apollo 11 medallion (i.e. one or more of NASA medallions were melted down and added to other metal to mint these commercial editions). As to their value, examples have recently sold on eBay for as low as $2.50 and as high as $40. | |
