I am pleased to announce that Farthest Reaches is now taking pre-orders for author signed copies of Colin Burgess's latest book, "Aurora 7: The Mercury Flight of M. Scott Carpenter". This Springer title is priced at $37 (only $2 over publisher's cover price of $34.95). This will help to offset my own costs.

Shipping is quite reasonable and is as follows:

Within the US via media mail:

  • 1 book - $6
  • 2 books - $7
  • 3 books - $8
To MOST international destinations via 1st class mail:
  • 1 book - $24
  • 2 books - $32
  • 3 books - $41
Orders of different quantities will be calculated on an an individual basis. Also, adding other items beyond these books will impact shipping as it's all based upon size and weight.

I'm now taking pre-orders for an October in person signing with Colin who is coming all the way from Australia. Orders must be paid in full at time of ordering. Personalizations and inscriptions upon request at no extra charge.

I accept all major forms of payment except for American Express. I will send out PayPal invoices upon request.

I would suggest you order early because once I place my book order, that's it. My quantities on hand will be limited by what I order and this will be primarily based upon your pre-orders.

Thanks as always for your continued support. — Steve Hankow

As Steve has mentioned, I will be flying over to Los Angeles and San Diego early October, and will be holding a signing session with him for "Aurora 7," which has an imminent release. This is the fourth book in my Mercury series, and signed copies of the three previous books are also available from Steve, as well as other publications I have written or collaborated in.

Once Steve and I work out the most suitable way to organize this, we will also announce a scheme whereby you can mail any of my past books to Steve and I will sign them whilst I am there (with inscriptions if requested). This may just be a simple matter of enclosing a padded return-stamped envelope. However Steve and I will be discussing this and will release details shortly.

Apart from a trip to Spacefest VII in Tucson next year, I only visit the United States occasionally, so this is your chance to have me sign your book or books without the massive expense of postage to and from Australia.

I have now confirmed with Steve Hankow of Farthest Reaches that I will be arriving in Los Angeles on 6 October and will meet up with him that day to sign copies of my latest Mercury series book, "Aurora 7," as well as any other books of mine that anyone wants into send to him enclosing return postage and packaging. I will freely sign these and provide an inscription if requested.

If you wish to get a signed copy of "Aurora 7" please contact Steve at FarthestReaches.com and he will ensure he orders sufficient copies for the signing. This will be the last time I will be in the States for some time, with my next scheduled visit to Spacefest VII in June, so if you want a signed copy of "Aurora 7" (and indeed any of the Mercury books thus published) please contact Steve ASAP to avoid disappointment.

I have the displeasure to report that due to circumstances beyond my control I was unable to obtain copies of "Aurora 7" to have Colin sign while we were visiting together this past weekend. The issue was the publishers inability to get the books into my hands as promised despite my own best efforts.

I apologize to those of you who pre-ordered and pre-paid for your copies. Needless to say, I will refund your money promptly and hope it goes better next time.

Hart, if you're reading this, I DID get Colin to hand sign your book and will be sending it your way shortly.

Again, my apologies for not being able to "deliver the goods" but thank you all nevertheless, for your continued support.

Steve's extreme annoyance is also shared by me. The publishers took Steve's order in plenty of time, but failed to deliver the books even though other people had received copies several days earlier. This was one of my two major objectives in flying from Australia to San Diego last week (the other was to conduct some book research) and this was a truly appalling piece of administration by the publishers. The signing was something Steve and I had planned for a while as a service to (particularly) the good folks at collectSPACE, as it is far too costly an exercise to sign and mail books from Australia, and I totally share Steve's acute disappointment. So I add my sincere apologies to those of Steve, and we have both agreed that this will never be allowed to happen again.

I'm back in Sydney once again and will be back in Los Angeles next May ahead of Spacefest VII. Hopefully next time there will be some books for me to sign. Hopefully.

All times are CT (US)
