Recently I've begun a new autograph collection of the 59 women who have flown in space, from Valentina Tereshkova, No. 1, to Samantha Cristoforetti, No. 59.

Among those I need autographs of are: Svetlana Savitskaya (first women to walk in space), Nicole Stott, Shannon Walker and Yelena Serova.

It's an interesting collecting topic, with the majority of autographs relatively easy to acquire, but with a few big problems, such as, Savitskaya, Kalpana Chawla, Laurel Clark, Lisa Nowak, Kay Hire, etc.

Autographed photos, signed letters/notes and covers are all acceptable. I do have some extras for trading or can purchase. Thanks.

I have Svetlana on ASE Poster from Gronigen Congress VI for $200 plus shipping. I have it posted here. Would this be acceptable?

I also have a black and white 6x8 picture of Salyut 7 crew including Savitskayha, Popov, and Serevbow. Feel free to email me.

Bob, besides those mentioned in your second paragraph above (though I may have Stott, will check), do you need material from Chawla, Clark, Nowak and Hire?

I do have a few in-person autographs from Hire here at KSC, a letter from Chawla, but let me check further on the others if they're needed. Is there anyone else?

Different than what you asked for, but I have a hardback book put out by Air and Space Museum titled "Woman and Flight". It is signed by Marsha Ivins (STS-32, 46, 62, 81), Shannon Lucid (STS 51G, 34, 43, 58, 76, MIR, 79), Susan Still Kilrain (STS- 83, 94), Mary Ellen Weber (STS y70, 101), Eileen Collins (STS-63, 84, 93, 114), and Aerobat Patty Wagstaff.

Any interest?

Bob, just came across a plain cut signature of Nicole Stott (think it's good, not autopen, somewhat tough with her).

Email me directly, you can have it for free. — Florian

Thanks, guys, I'll contact you all soon.

After collecting space autographs all these years, I do have a lot of extras and decided to begin a new collection using my "excess" material. Fortunately, I did have extras for Chawla, Clark and Nowak (perhaps the hardest autograph to find of the 59).

What actually gave me the idea and enthusiasm for this collection came after being contacted by a gentleman in Italy, who was seriously involved in putting together a collection of signed flight covers by all the women in space. I was able to help him a little, but he has a good ways to go.

The two Chinese taikonaut ladies seem like a difficult challenge, but both their autographs can be found at chinaspacecover.com for reasonable amounts. This source in Red China is considered a reputable source for taikonaut autograph material.

Anyone possibly interested in pursuing such a collection would make things easier on themselves by accepting almost any type of signed material, as I've done, including portrait photos (ideal), covers, cards and letters/notes. In my opinion, signed letters are especially interesting and somewhat ignored by many collectors.

All times are CT (US)
