I would have really liked to have attended this event but unfortunately I have a family event on both days. I hope this event is a massive success and enables you to bring more space exploration pioneers over to the UK in the near future. Best of luck.

Well done Nick and Bryar, this I am sure will be a great success.

Julie (Mrs Owl) and myself have already booked tickets for both the dinner and lecture event. It will be good to see all the usual suspects and hopefully many new enthusiasts there.

Thanks for best wishes and ticket purchases so far, much appreciated.

We really need a logo for InspireSPACE, our not for profit community interest company. We have many talented individuals on this site, any takers?

Something that can be used on a letterhead, website and patch would be appreciated. I quite like the idea of an adult figure pointing up to the heavens with a child figure at the side both wearing space suits/helmets, head and shoulders. Open to ideas. Thank you Nick.

Does anyone in the U.K. have a replica space suit for hire for some promotional activities? I don't mean the skin tight silver foil variety, I have all the right bumps in all the wrong places for one of those.

I wonder if the National Space Centre in Leicester or the BBC props dept. could help?

Hope the ticket sales are going well?

Ticket sales slow but encouraging. Any ideas for the photo shoot backdrop? Please post here.

A signed copy will be made available for the final backdrop selected.

Further to our earlier appeal for an InspireSPACE logo design we will offer a choice of a hand signed photo (Fred Haise,Eileen Collins or a Don Thomas)for the design chosen.

I hate to be "that guy" but I don't want anyone on here getting done for copyright infringement. After watching the latest episode of Ripper Street, on the BBC, I noticed one of the production companies has a very similar logo to the one designed by gareth89.

Apologies! I must have used the same free shutterstock image as they have! Not to worry, the logo I made is a first attempt and is easily edited, and would be even better if someone on here had an image or photograph of 'viewers of the night sky' that I could make a silhouette of?

If it was a free stock image that you used then there shouldn't be a problem. Obviously they have used the same, or a very similar, image.

And there was me thinking production companies would be more creative then that.

I'm looking forward to it! I understand some tickets remain but we are getting closer to the big day so snap them up while you can.

As we have seen with the recent cancellations at Autographica it is becoming increasingly difficult to get these guys over to the UK. The day when they stop altogether is very close... and already here for many.

I spoke to Nick earlier tonight and his enthusiasm and interest was infectious — We are ALL the same on here!

As excited as I am about attending this event, I will never ever fail to be shocked to the core at how the general public just aren't interested enough to spend just £40 to dine with and meet an astronaut(or just £25 to hear one speak), let alone an Apollo astronaut. Absolutely unbelievable!

Rant over.

I urge all of you who are still deliberating about attending either the dinner or lecture or both — Take the plunge, because to be quite blunt: These guys won't be here in five to ten years.

Walt and his lovely wife were excellent today at the Leicester Space Centre. Walt carried out a book signing and then a very interesting one hour Q&A.

He covered topics such as the Apollo 1 tragedy, the challenges of Apollo 7 including the famous disagreements between the crew and mission control during the flight, the decision to re-enter without helmets, future Mars missions and their enormous challenges.

He also spoke with a group of young school children and was brilliant with them. What a lovely guy. It was great spending a bit of quality time with him.

I would thoroughly encourage your attendance this Saturday at Walsall town hall to see Walt's lecture and to have your photo taken with him. It's a bargain and the price of admission includes an autograph too! Many thanks too to Nick and his wife.

A big thank you to Nick and Bryar for an excellent evening spent with Walt and Dot Cunningham.

I was pleasantly surprised to find myself sharing the table with them both.... along with Paul Bradbury and "the Owls" amongst others.

Having spent a couple of days in the UK already the Cunningham's were rested, relaxed and charming and Walt was particularly impressed with the interest and the depth of knowledge of his fellow diners.

Unfortunately I was unable to stick around for the lecture the next day; I had to be in work but I know there will be a good posse from Ponte attending and they are in for an excellent talk. Only wish I could have joined them.

I'm usually a man of far too many words but I can only describe Walt's performance last night as: Wow!!

As is so often the case with these sort of lectures by our heroes, I walk in a (very) simple layperson and walk out having had an education. I've never been accused of lacking in confidence (to put it lightly) but I look at men like Walt, having listened to them talk, and very quickly develop an inferiority complex - these guys are on a different level to most of us.

Massive thanks to Nick and Bryar for doing this, it's a hell of a financial risk putting on these sort of events and let's be honest - Would you do it? I wouldn't, or at least, I wouldn't be allowed to (Mrs Buel would certainly have words to say if I did).
I give them all the credit in the world for doing this - With reference to my earlier rant: In years to come, we will look back on events like last night and be SO very grateful that we were lucky enough to be able to attend. As the saying goes, mark my words...

It is always fun to meet up with some of the usual crowd. Unfortunately I didn't get chance to speak to Ken W or Mr and Mrs Owl but did see other friends. Great to (briefly) see Tykeanaut and his new flashy hairstyle. We spoke briefly and then he was off galavanting. He reminded me of the line from The Usual Suspects: 'And like that he was gone. Underground. Nobody has ever seen him since. He becomes a myth, a spook story that criminals tell their kids at night: “Rat on your pop, and Tykeanaut will get you.”

Thank you again Nick and Bryar - Top night!!

For those of you who were there last night, I urge you to take three minutes out of your Sunday and watch the second video down in this newspaper website.

I am struggling to comprehend that that man we seen and met last night was inside the CM on top of that Saturn IB. It's almost unbelievable.

Many thanks to Nick and Bryar and all concerned for an enjoyable event yesterday. It was good to meet up with friends and I also found out at long last who OWL was! Nice to meet you and of course Mrs. OWL.

Buel - Sorry for the brief encounter, but I was on Raffle Ticket duty with "Wifey." Maybe catch up with you more at the Jim Lovell event if you're amongst us then too?

These events are tremendous, as Kite said he never thought he'd meet his heroes.
