Space Cover 641: Landsat 50th Anniversary

The year, 2022, marks the 50th anniversary of the launch of the first Earth Resources Technology Satellite (ERTS) on July 23, 1972 aboard Delta #89. The main purpose of this first mission was to demonstrate the usefulness of remote sensing of conditions on Earth's surface on a global scale and on a repetitive basis. These conditions are of economic, social and cultural interest to humanity. The cover shown was serviced by the Goddard Space Flight Center.
