Space Cover of the Week, Week 528, August 18, 2019  Space Cover #528: STS-40/SLS-1 LaunchThis week's Space Cover of the Week commemorates the launch of shuttle Columbia on the STS-40/Spacelab mission on June 5, 1991. The mission was dedicated to life science research. Landing took place on June 14, 1991. Cover was autographed by Commander, Bryan O'Connor; Pilot, Sid Gutierrez; Mission Specialists, Jim Bagian, Tammy Jernigan and Rhea Seddon; Payload Specialists, Drew Gaffney and Millie Fulford and Alternate Payload Specialist, Bob Phillips. |

Looks like one of the shuttle crew signed covers that I handled/cancelled in June 1991. At the time, there was a sub-postal station located in Titusville, FL, that served as a bulk space philatelic unit of the KSC HQS/Orlando regional branch. The same branch facility was at Orlando International Airport during the early shuttle missions of the 1980's.
