fimych Member Posts: 228 From: Boston MA, USA Registered: Jun 2015	posted 05-11-2019 10:50 AM Space Cover of the Week, Week 513 (May 5, 2019) Space Cover #513: MAKS 99 The cover postmarked in Moscow Aviation and Space Show (MAKS) held in August 1999. The cover has a pretty scarce Astros-Press cachet that issued a limited number of cachets during mid-end 1990s. The cachet commemorated the end of Mir and beginning of ISS age – note the pretty fantastic ISS layout. The stamp is quite uncommon even for modern Russian issues, showing Yu. Gagarin and Neil Armstrong, was a part of 1998 series – XX Century Achievements. MAKS 99, was the 4th airshow, still not very massive considering the "blackout" years of Russian economy and politics turmoil, so the good pictorial cancellations and correctly presented covers could be quite uncommon.

Tolboyev was one of the Buran test pilots, and he was piloting the chase plane during the only automatic flight on 15 November 1988.
