Space Cover #256: Russia's Collectors Day 1961

The Space Cover of the Week commemorates Collectors Day in Moscow on May 28, 1961. The local collectors club named the Moscow City Society of Collectors (MGOK) was likely involved in setting up the commemorations for the event as well as getting the Moscow post office to create and use this special postmark.

The pictorial cancel was officially used only on May 28, 1961at the Moscow V-49 post office as well as onsite at the Gorkii Central Park of Culture and Rest. Catalog# is Winick 163. Collectors paid 8 kopecks for the cover.
