The first version of this Expedition 63 patch with the crew initials on has now sold out from the AB Emblem website. Only two production runs are known to of been made at this time, they are;
  • 419926 A-B Emblem 0120 20 (USA) crew issued, seen photo from Baikonur
  • 419926 A-B Emblem 0220 20 (USA)
The revised version of this Expedition 63 patch without the crew initials is only known with the following date codes;
  • 422231. A-B Emblem 03/19 20 (USA) should read 03/20 20
  • 422231 A-B Emblem 0320 20 (been reported on 24-06-20) the ones I've seen have single labels so far.
  • 422231. A-B Emblem 04/19 20 (USA) should read 04/20 20
  • 422231 A-B Emblem 05/2020 (USA) Correct date code double labelled, bottom label reads 05/19 20

With the arrival of the Crew Dragon Endeavour crew now as part of the ISS-63 crew, any word on a "modified patch" being released?

I have not heard of any changes to the current Expedition 63 patch. I don't think any changes will happen now the crew initials have been removed from the current Expedition 63 patch. But I might be wrong?

Watch this space. (No pun intended).

Update:

AB Emblem have just released the Expedition 63 patch with the correct 2020 date codes. So with another four production runs completed it looks like there will be no changes coming anytime soon.

  • 422231 A-B Emblem 05/2020 (USA)
  • 422231 A-B Emblem 06/2020 (USA)

Update: 23rd November 2020. Another two date codes reported with photo's.
  • 422231 A-B Emblem Made In USA 0872020
  • 422231 A-B Emblem Made In China 11/20 40

Update: 2nd December 2020. Another date code reported.
  • 422231 A-B Emblem Made In China 10/20 40 (JSC Spacetraders sales card)
Update: 31st January 2023;
  • 422231 A-B Emblem Made In China 11/21/40 (seen on eBay)

It has been reported to me that some of the Expedition 63 patches with the 05/2020 date code on have been found with "double labels" on them. One label on top of another, some slightly off set so the bottom label can just be seen under the top label.

This may of been done deliberately to cover up the "wrong" year 2019 instead of 2020, which have been found on most patches produced at Weaverville, North Carolina during January through to April this year. (Patches manufactured in China and Mexico this year all have the correct 2020 date codes on them).

Double labels were also found on the Expedition 61 patches, to cover up the "wrong" Expedition 60 labels which were applied under the plastic coatings of the Expedition 61 patches (see ISS Expedition 61 insignia thread).

Both patches shown here are double labelled.

The one on the left looks and feels like it has been coated with plastic twice. The one on the right has just been re-coated over the label only. So I'm unable to peel either back without damaging the back of the patches to see what is underneath.

I have some more of these ISS-63 05/2020 patches coming in the next few days, so I'm hoping to find one I can peel back the top label on to see what is beneath.

The other Expedition 63 patches I bought from the same two packets of ten patches, arrived today, Monday 8th June. All 20 patches are "double labelled." Most are like the patch shown on the left, but I have eight patches which have off-set labels like the patch shown on the right, so show parts of the bottom label numerals.

I have now cut around three sides of one label on one patch, and the bottom label is indeed date code 05/19 20. I could not separate the two labels because of the second plastic coating which was applied to the backs of these patches. So I basically damaged one patch. See below.

It has been bought to my attention that a limited edition of 100 full size, fully embroidered Expedition 63 patches are available to buy from SpaceBoosters, a United Kingdom space memorabilia retailer, and cS member.

These fully embroidered Expedition 63 patches are not AB Emblem patches and are privately commissioned.

A truly superb piece just as the artist Blake Dumesnil envisioned.

Very nice. That's how this design should have been done in the first place. Great execution of the bootprint.

Received this fully embroidered patch today - it's stunning compared to the AB Emblem version. I can't understand why they didn't produce a fully embroidered patch like this in the first place.

Why o why was this not produced as "the" ISS 63 patch. Well done Nick, a great job done.

Just received my patch today. I have to echo what others are saying, a phenomenally executed patch - well done!

Thanks, Kevin. I just ordered one.

Update: It arrived today (8/21) and to echo others, what a fantastic design and great execution.

Was looking through photos from Expedition 63 and noticed Cassidy wearing what appears to be the original patch version with names on his flight suit.

This onboard suit was produced by Kentavr-Nauka firm in Moscow. They got MS-16 patches from Flying Dutchmen and ISS-63 patches (Tikhonov, Babkin, Cassidy) from NASA office in Moscow. These patches are seen on the photo.

ISS-63 patches without names were not delivered in time.
