Yes, I agree that the colour error patch would be sort after, and could fetch as much if not more than the limited edition version in the short term while it is on collectors minds?

I disagree. I don't think the limited edition patches or the color errors will maintain any type of value as the years pass.

If you look at the brief history of space memorabilia, the only souvenir-type items to gain any significant value have been those that were official to the program, e.g. Robbins medallions and Beta cloth patches.

Third-party produced souvenirs have generally stayed flat or lost value. For example, Lion Brothers patches, which used to be highly sought by collectors, have now been largely set aside for the crew-worn or used versions of the emblems.

As for the color errors, I cannot think of a past example where a thread error on even an official NASA patch has resulted in a sustained higher collector demand.

This was a privately-produced patch, with no official connection to the program, so while very nice, I would expect it to lose desirability over time in all of its versions.

I do agree with you Robert, I was simply thinking 1 of 10 vs 1 of 118, the only difference being thread color, an embedded label, and of course price.
