Just got in my first orders from the SpaceX shop. I have to say I've got to the moon before them, as I am over the moon with the quality of the items.

The t-shirts have got very good prints on them, the baseball hat is a flex fit type so no messing a round with the hat band to get it to fit and I just love the water bottle its just a great design with a built in hook, you just press to open the spout and you can fill it with 24oz of liquid. I'll be putting in more order to them with this quality.

I just have to wait for the patches to go on the web page now.

SpaceX will be introducing a limited edition set of their nine Dragon and Falcon patches as early as later today (Dec. 7). Only 200 sets will be offered.
The limited-edition mission patch collection includes a full set of all SpaceX mission patches, a total of 9. From the first launch of the Falcon 1 rocket to the most recent Falcon 9 mission to the International Space Station, you can review and relive SpaceX’s historic launches.

I hope to grab one of those sets, sounds great. Now if they would just offer a good looking large scale model(s).

I just searched "patch" on the homepage linked above, and it came up... Mission Patch Collection. Only US $30 for all nine!

SpaceX sent a set of the patches to collectSPACE for review; they arrived today.

The patches are accompanied by an information card with basic details about each of the nine flights and an embossed metallic/holographic Dragon logo.

The set is titled, "SpaceX Mission Patch Collection | 2012" — perhaps implying that SpaceX may release each year's flight patches as a set.

As for the patches themselves, all appear to be a new production run as compared to the few examples I have of patches that were produced at the time of the missions.* The current set uses more metallic threads and a tighter stitching for a much cleaner look.

Interestingly, the one patch without metallic thread is the CRS-1 emblem, which has a sheen but is much more subdued than the prior eight embroidered designs.

(* Judging presently from photographs, as I am on extended travel and do not have access to the physical patches at the moment.)

With a little help from a friend in California, my girlfriend recently started a collection with the first 8 SpaceX patches. It looks like they had been available to employees as a set before CRS-1 flew. I guess there's no easy way to get our hands on just the CRS-1 patch?

I thought for sure that a set of 9 patches would be outrageous in price....but $30! Wow, what a great deal! So glad I found this place to stay updated on all the new things happening!

I've just gone on to order a set and they are listed as "sold out." I think they were a little too limited in number. Maybe they'll do a rerun if demand is high enough.

Hopefully they will begin selling individual patches for each mission as they approach in the future. I would like to think that these 200 limited patch sets were an experiment to see if their patches would sell. I think if this is the case then SpaceX now knows that there is a market with a high demand for their patches.

Wow, that was quick.

Emailed SpaceX to reiterate that the market is there for more, and for future mission patches.

I was very interested in these patches too! I was on a business trip for three days and read about the patches today. Wanted to order them immediately, but I had to realize, they are all sold out...

It would be real great, if SpaceX would produce more of these sets, that are sold out at the moment, because I think there are more people like me, who missed the chance to buy the set!

And for those interested, they have removed the sets entirely from their site! Searches return no results.

My patches arrived this morning in England UK. Really nice patches and info card with hologram Dragon logo and the small bonus of SpaceX bag. Great service, thank you SpaceX and all involved in the project. All success for your future flights to ISS etc.

Also received them today and there is absolutely no difference with the earlier patches sold by SpaceX employees.

Received my patches today. I like them — very nice. I hope they'll continue with the patch sales. Can hardly wait for their patch for the first crewed Dragon mission.

I received my set today and I love them! I also like the SpaceX plastic tote bag that was in the package! I do hope they release some of the patches individually.

Received mine today along with a couple of hats and the Falcon 9 Rocket Kit for display. All items are very fine quality. The patches came with an 8 1/2 X 11 full color cardboard poster showing each mission patch, launch date, and launch site.

Got my set Tuesday. I didn't order the bag either but there was one in the envelope. And the bag is a nice, heavy drawstring plastic bag. Very similar to Apple's, if you know those.

Just a heads-up: the SpaceX website store is once again offering complete patch sets (up to CRS-2) for $20 plus tax and shipping.

(Looking more closely, it appears that the flight 4 patch may not be included. Still, good deal.)

Just to let you all know that the set is in fact 11 patches. The pictures are to be updated.

I ordered mine last night and was told the set included 11 patches. They are also offering a really nice poster set for $25. If the patches are anything like last year they will be limited.

Ordered two more sets this morning to get the new patches. From what I can tell from the store that only shows nine patches (there are 11 being shipped), this set looks to include all the original nine from last year and two new patches. So for those of you that didn't get a set last year, here's a second chance to get them all in one shot.

Personally, I don't like that they chose to do it this way because the "limited to 200 sets" last year now is pretty meaningless. On one hand I'm glad they are offing them again so those that didn't get them last year now have a shot of adding them to their collections.

On the other hand, I ordered (and still have) two sets from last year that I thought were going to be "limited." Seems I'll now have four sets of the nine from last year and two sets for the two US flights this year.

(To be clear, I believe there were four flights this year, but only two were for the US. The other two were for Europe and Thailand. We'll have to see which flights the "new" patches were for once they start arriving in our hands, unless someone knows already!)

To date, there have been three Falcon flights in 2013:
  • For NASA, Commercial Resupply Services-2 (CRS-2) to the International Space Station (March)
  • For MDA (Canada), Cascade Smallsat and Ionospheric Polar Explorer (CASSIOPE) satellite (September)
  • For SES (Europe), SES-8 telecommunications satellite (December)
The launch of Thaicom 6 (Thailand) is targeted for later this month, though whether it takes place this year is still be seen.

So I sent SpaceX an email... From their reply (SpaceX Marketing/Communications):
...actually includes all 12 missions up into the SES mission only 9 are pictured but there's actually 12 included in the set.
So, there you go! This set appears to include the patch for EVERY mission that has launched thus far. (Which means these include more of the first 9 that were a "limited edition of 200 sets" last year.)

And the latest word from SpaceX is that calling them a "limited edition" last year was a misnomer. There are currently approximately 1000 in stock and those will be sold until stock runs out or the first of the year, whichever comes first.

From their email:

They are not limited edition, there is a limited run at a limited qty. They will only be available until they run out, or until the first of the year. There is just another 1,000 left in stock.

The poster and the patches sets have been taken off the site. I'd emailed them to see if they are still for sale as they have only been on the site for a few hours.

And as I get paid at 12.00 p.m. GMT, it looks as if I may have missed out on them one more time.

Update: Just had a email back from SpaceX —  The patches and posters will be available again, there was an issue due to an overwhelming response of orders. They said to please check back periodically.

Too few people buying too many sets. I missed out the first time and again today. They are going to be relisted with a control on purchases to make it fair for all.

Weird thing is that I visited the online shop on Dec. 3; at that time, the patches were listed and available separately, at $7 each.

With SpaceX only offering them as a set now, how are earlier buyers supposed to keep their collection complete if each new patch is only available as part of a new and expanded 'full set'?

Well if they hold their current pricing, it is cheaper to buy the set at $20. then three individual ones at $7 each.

I got lucky and ordered as soon as I saw the post, 4th December, and they arrived today in the UK. Fantastic service. Nine of the patches are identical to the first set, no variants. Hope everybody who wants a set gets the opportunity to buy one this time.
