I was just thinking the same thing. It is a beautiful design as is the Alan Shepard 50th. I really like the use of the Mercury Redstone in the design of Shepard's patch. I hope Tim includes a commemorative card with these like he did Schirra's patch. It looks great with the patch in the frame.

I received Carpenter's Aurora 7 Commemorative from Farthest Reaches a few weeks ago and it was a great addition with Grissom's, Glenn's, and Schirra's patch already on my wall.

Any news about the Al Shepard and Gordo Cooper commemorative patches, Tim? I will frame them together with the autographed Pictures of the Mercury astronauts and I am counting the days to hold them in my hands!

Before my health scare there were plans in place to market both the Shepard and Cooper commemoratives. Both designs were approved by the families. The prototypes have been approved.

Circumstances beyond my control have forced a change in those plans. As soon as I can make new arrangements, I will make a new announcement.

Thanks for your patience and interest. After all these years it still means a lot.

Tim, I just got your autographed EFT-1 patch the other day. It is beautiful! I have your One Year ISS patch on order now. I wish I could wear it when I go to KSC Monday to show it off, but I can't ruin the signature!

Best wishes on your health and continue to improve!

Thank you everyone for your gracious compliments about the patch art. They are very much appreciated.

A few things to announce: The ghost of Randy Hunt still haunts. This listing of my STS-62A art is not from me.

I plan to release the 62A set next year. It will be worth the wait — I promise.

My set of 2013 Shuttle patches (art not chosen) had been produced and is on it's way. My original intention was to limit them to 200 pieces. Due to smaller demand than expected, the set will be much smaller. I have learned a lot. I won't be attempting this large a project again.

I will be announcing soon news about the Freedom 7 and Faith 7 50th Anniversary patches. You will be pleased.

Thank you all for your support, prayers and well wishes.

Tim, glad to hear that you doing well. Is there a list to be put on for your patch sets? I too would be interested in the STS-62A sets as well as any future sets. Again, thanks for the advice and guidance regarding the Astronaut Closeout Patch commemorative that I was attempting to design.

Tim's Mercury 50th patches look terrific, both together and individually...I'm glad to finally be able to put together a proper framed Mercury display instead of settling for those kinda-lame little "souvenir" patches.

My favorite of the six is the Shepard patch. I love how the design draws from the look common among Navy aviation squadron emblems of Shepard's day.

Thank You, Tim, for the wonderful Shepard and Cooper patches! They look so fine framed with the astronauts' autographs! I hope you will bring the collection of Mercury 50th anniversary patches to an end by doing a patch for Deke Slayton!

I want to take a moment to thank all of you for your support this year. I try to learn from each project and become a better artist and try to take your feedback into account. The kind comments above are very much appreciated.

It's time for each of you to decide if you wish to remain on my "New Patch Alerts" list. If you do, then email me in the affirmative and include your current mailing and email addresses. I will update the list accordingly so you don't miss out.

If you would rather not receive notices please RSVP with the note "Please remove me from your list" and I will do so. If you have signed up within the last month, you do not need to do this.

That being said, I hope to produce at least 12 patches in 2014. One each month. So here are some questions for you...

  1. International customers: would you rather I limit your shipping to once, twice a year or do you want your patches as produced?
  2. Should I ship patches quarterly or monthly?
Everyone will have the option of USPS Priority Mail or First Class with each announcement.

Those on the list will always receive advance notice. Your patches will be signed and numbered limited editions of 100. If a certain design is well received and the demand is great, (museums or NASA Visitor Centers) I will produce a patch that is not signed and numbered but will also be markedly different from your limited edition patch. (Size, threads used, etc).

It hasn't happened yet but the possibility is there.

The first patch of the New Year will be an Astronaut/Cosmonaut Memorial patch. You will have a choice between one with the names of those we remember or one with a legend (motto). You'll be able to purchase one or both.

Watch your email in box for the official announcement in early January. Happy New Year!

Received the Shepard, Schirra and Cooper commemoratives today. Wow, what artistry. Now my Mercury 50th patches are complete. Thanks Tim for doing these patches. Looking forward to more in 2014.

Just a thought, but I think a 30th anniversary patch would be nice commemorating the first unthethered spacewalk on 41B. I'm sure it wouldn't take much to go overboard with so many shuttle missions though.

Yes, and the first ever orbiter landing at KSC... by space shuttle Challenger.

I, along with Jorge Cartes R, are finishing the design of an "Astronaut Memorial" patch. I am VERY pleased with how it looks. What should I title it?

The Astronauts Memorial Foundation offers a beautiful patch that honors those on the Space Mirror. "Fallen Astronauts" is a wonderful book by Colin Burgess and Kate Doolan.

I need a proper name for this patch. Any ideas?

After the loss of the Challenger a special patch was released that contained the phrase used by President Reagan in his speech: "They Touched The Face of God." I don't know if it would be a copyright infringement but it is a phrase to be considered.

I'll never fly in space, I lack the qualifications. But ever since I was a kid, I have admired those who do and have come to appreciate and respect all those who work to make it possible.

So when I create a piece of art I try to imagine the view, try to answer the question: "what's it like?"

Since 2010 I have been trying to create a commemorative piece that pays proper tribute to those who we lost. Each time the design was ok but I wasn't satisfied...until now.

This is a detail of my newest piece: "Final Flight." My tribute to those who gave the "last full measure of devotion" to our efforts to explore space and it's dedicated to all those who continue the mission.

Not only will this be a commemorative patch but I intend to do a painting as well. My thanks to Jorge Cartes for his critical help with the graphics. I could do it alone but I wouldn't want to. Muchas Gracias mi Hermano.

Thanks - yes this will be both an 8 inch and 5 inch patch as well as a painting. I'll be offering prints of the painting.

By the way, this is only a small part of the patch. Wait until you see the entire design.
