I bought this segment of space shuttle insulation, possibly flown. It is marked as scrap and seems to be removed from another object. Does anyone know exactly where it was located or how I could figure out what flights it was flown on?

SN: V070-362160-008 OCN-03953-F77710The small stamp is pretty much unreadable. I contacted JSC FOIA but they said I needed the document number, and the S/Ns would not work. |

This is an insulation blanket as was used in the payload bay to shield from micrometeorites and radiation. You can see another example here, along with some of the related paperwork that accompanied blankets like this. With regards your FOIA request, I believe you would need the specific paperwork that accompanied this specific blanket to research any further. |

Thanks for the quick response. This piece did not come with paperwork and therefore was at a low price. I did look at photos of the Payload Bay but all I really see is Payload Bay Liner. I also have other blankets with paperwork but somehow they cannot process it at FOIA. Is there anyway I can locate the document number? |

This blanket could also be from the orbiter drag chute compartment. Which used the same beta cloth exterior. |
