From some time on eBay are sold these items, someone must know its application? Why are the numbers printed above are all the same? It could be a "replica"? The basic dimensions are 2.8 inches long by 1.25 inches wide by 0.1875 inches high. The red label is about 2.1 inches long by 1 inch wide. |

There are several types of similar parts that were used to protect areas of the LM control panels before launch. They were made in different forms for the various areas needing protection. I have seen some in the shape of capped cylinders for protecting push buttons. Some are flat pieces of clear plastic with Velcro. I don't know the exact application for a particular part, but sometimes you can find pre-flight images of a LM cabin where similar guards are in place. |

I found a NASA photo of LM6 (Apollo 12) that includes the exact type of guard in your photo: The photo shows the Panel 5 area (below the Commander's window). It includes two pushbutton guards, and the type of protective cover in your photo that appears to be covering a piece of Velcro to keep it clean. |

John (space1), do you have a high resolution image of the above photograph? Also is there a NASA # for that image? |

I thought you may be interested to see how I have displayed the tag. The tag is on the outside of the glass, attached with a Velcro dot, to allow removal and examination. Thanks to fellow cS member for the idea! |

I have a few questions about the below Remove Before Flight tag. Is there any way of researching what function it might have had and for which LM(s)? Can the LDW part number be traced, for example? Presumably Grumman kept records. Anybody recognize it from their travels?I've tried scouring the internet for pre-flight pictures but haven't been able to find more than a couple with the RBF tags still in place. Thanks in advance for any info or direction.

I also have one of these tags. It has the same LDW number as those in the photos by Space1 and ozspace, so it is likely that all of the tags of the same design (unlike the clear tag above) have the same number, LDW420-10112-1. That would likey make tracing it impossible, also it is probable that these were reused from LM to LM. |

I was fortunate enough to win this Lunar Module Remove Before Flight tab, but was wondering what system, switch, knob, etc that it would be attributed to. I has two sets of serial numbers, the standard LDW and E? LDW-10110 SN2. I'm not sure what the letter or punctuation follows the "E" in this second designation. |

I also have one of these, though I know very little about it. This string has been a huge help. Has anyone found any other pre-flight pictures with these tags installed in an LM? I am tempted to build a display similar to the one shown above. |
