No, as the mission has yet to fly. This is intended to be available before the launch. |

The Mars curiosity coin had metal from the prototype, would be cool if they could do the same for this although it is probably too late to incorporate into it. It is a beautiful coin design, happy to add this one to the collection given the historical significance of the launch. |

Great looking medallion. Wish they'd wait until after the flight and include "flown" material though. |

Winco can only include flown metal if provided by their customer. For EFT-1, NASA does not own the capsule; it is a Lockheed Martin test flight. NASA does own some of instrumentation aboard the spacecraft. That doesn't mean that a flown metal EFT-1 medal won't be possible in the future, but as of now, this pre-flight commemorative is what is planned. |

Robert, based on your latest comment it looks like the medallion (at least the first iteration) won't have flown metal. With that said, shouldn't a release of the medallion be relatively soon? Will this medallion be in a case like others or since it doesn't contain flown metal be without?By the way, I think Winco (or an authorized dealer/seller) should take pre-orders for the flown metal medallion! I'm not sure if anyone has suggested that.  |

I'm told the medal should be available in November, though when and how it will be offered for sale is still to be announced.(With regards to a case, the graphic above notes: "The medallion will include a circular presentation case for protection.") |

As included in this article, here is a look at Lockheed Martin's EFT-1 medallion: The Lockheed Martin medals are inscribed with the Latin phrase, "Cum Spiritus Novus, Itur Ad Astra," or translated, "With Renewed Spirit, We Shall Go To The Stars." Each features the Exploration Flight Test-1 emblem on one side and the Space Launch System rocket on the reverse.  These medallions were minted in two sizes: 1.25-inch and 1.75-inch diameter. |

Currently awaiting delivery of my EFT-1 medallion but I really hope they produce a 'contains metal flown on EFT-1' edition in the future. |

Heck yeah! Having seen this stack on the pad with my own eyes, I have a stronger than normal interest in the EFT-1 and would love such a coin. |

I too am waiting for a flown metal medallion and hopefully there'll be out soon!I heard that the Orion commemorative medallion has been more popular than expected and Winco is working hard to keep up with the demand. With that said, I was at the Goddard visitor center and they had many left in the gift shop for $12.95. |

With regards to the availability of flown metal, keep in mind that the EFT-1 Orion is set to fly again in 2018 on the Ascent Abort 2 flight test and as such it is still going to be needed until then. Even the sensors and other instruments being removed from the capsule may be reused, and at the least, will be in use as part of the post-flight analysis for many months to come. I'm not saying that a flown metal medallion might not be possible (as I don't know either way) but if there is to be one, I wouldn't expect it any time soon. |

I just won the 1.75" medallion, but was wondering are all them flown? The seller assessed that it was "likely unflown." Any additional information would be great, thanks! |

Only a subset of the medallions minted were flown and to my knowledge have not been distributed loose (the flown examples that have surfaced thus far have been mounted to plaques).Lockheed Martin is not making available any of the flown material in such a way it would appear for sale this soon after the flight. |

Robert, thanks for the insight. It's likely unflown as both you and seller can attest to. Being so scarce, do you think that there might be a chance of counterfeit or propriety to Lockheed? |

I received this medallion a couple of days ago and am very pleased. I really didn't think it was counterfeit and now actually viewing in my possession it's original. The medallion's detail and high relief makes it a quality medallion! Thanks again Robert for providing details! |
